Let us not forget that Britain stood proudly with her former Dominions, Canada and Australia. She was not alone.

I’m an American and every now and again I’ll search this speech and try to imagine being a regular British citizen tuning in on the radio to this broadcast when it was live. It sends chills all over and I find myself having immense pride that western civilization triumphed over the nazi regime. Stats show that Churchill wasn’t the best domestic prime minister but my god was he great when it came to wartime. If you’re from any western nation (France, Australia, USA, etc.) you can thank this man. Winston Churchill. For saving the free world, and allowing us westerners to keep living our lives in freedom.

...just finished reading "The Splendid and the Vile" by Erik Larson - the story of Churchill from his first day as Prime Minister to the day after his first anniversary as PM - (10 May 1940 - 11 May 1941) , his family and the Blitz...his courage and leadership stands among the finest in all of world history.

After listening to Churchill, it shows what a disgrace the U.S. has turned into, in that the "politicians" immediately closed schools and businesses because of chest colds and a cough, while the Brits were shown going to work and businesses the day after a London bombings.

Churchill became Prime Minister at age 65. His very first day in office was the same day Germany invaded France. There was no time to spare. Peril was everywhere. Churchill was the right man at the right time to stand up against the greatest threat the world had ever known up until that time.
