If you look back at the scene where molly Weasley exploded belletrix you notice that the explosion is similar if not the same to how we exploded that troll in hogsmeade in Hogwarts legacy.

I made a comment in a similar vain but i have a hard time believing that lily potter was the first witch or wizard to sacrafice themselves for that kind of love and neither was voldemort the first person to split his soul he just was the first to do it 7 times so how is harry the first person ever to survive the killing curse when youve got dark wizards in the past who've use horcuxs before or others who sre protected by the same magic harry was and would have probably survived the killing curse idk the rules of magic like this is left intentionally vague and i kinda hate it because it makes no sense jk just had to write in a better explanation for how and why it only happened to harry potter

I'd say all magic is natural present (ancient or modern). Ancient magic could better be phrased as primal and highly advanced magic.

However due to the sinister nature combined with the highly advanced technigues needed to wield ancient magic, it's mostly forgotten/banned.

However the power of love should be quite common and more people would have the scar Harry has, as he can't be the only one being shot by the killing curse over time.

so ancient magic is in the same category of the metallic nodes on deep seas that mining companies are mining that produces more oxygen than all the rainforrests phytoplancton in the world! which china now destroys these great 2 billion year old oxygen batteries with uncontrolled mining like how they kill all life in the ocean with their illegal mega fleets for fishing!

I think the sign of ancient magic which dumbledore was the magic used by Tom Riddle to scare the 2 children he took with him to the caves to punish them which is talked about in the 6th and 7th book. So unformed magic which is controlled and meaningfully initiated, as opposed to an accidental outburst of energy

I think ancient magic is one of the earliest type of pure energy and magic. Like it was the magic itself before spells were even considered, like it was magic but without any spell or incantation.
Maybe witches and wizards (like Merlin, Rackham, Isadora, and I think even Dumbledore) posessed these abilities and that made them so powerful.
I always loved the tought that the protagonist of HL is far more powerfull than Harry because of his/her ancient magic.

The way I understand it is that ancient magic DOESN'T require incantations or more discipline or knowledge than 'typical' magic. Quite the opposite. It's emotional magic, wielded by your soul's impulse or reflex, rather than filtered through your mind into incantations.
It reminds me of the Deep Magic from Narnia.

With invention of wands need to study complex rituals, magical interactions with reality, sigils and understand vast amounts of knowledge has been reduced all but select few.

In theory rise of Grindelwald and Voldemort, exposed that Wizarding society is stagnating magically, technologically and socially bringing many old feuds back into fray, creating unique new problems and conquestly making Wizards of new generation inferior.

In addition to Post Industrial Development of Technology such as Internet by Muggles threatens balance of Power between Muggles and Wizards which Grindelwald and Voldemort sought to bring under control to prevent an all out war between 2 factions as many Wizards even Pureblood fanatics struggle to produce a simple Shield Charm focusing more on flashier albeit easier spells but less effective against a Ballistic Weapons

Arent 2 of the theories the same theories, one was that it was tied to like the natural world including gravity, but if that is the initial logic then ancient magic would have to have been tied to it since the big bang, on the other hand, the other theory is was something along the lines of, ancient magic is tied to the beginning of basically magic and the world or earth or something like that, but that would be the same as the first theory because it would be the big bang that brought it in, im not critiquing or nothing, im just genuinely lost, and need some guidance

I read from somewhere (sorry I forgot where I read it), that Rowlings read a book called The Wizard of Earthsea, which inspired her to write her own book. In the aforementioned book, wizard uses magic by calling their names, the name of typhoon, the name of waves, and so on, basically the name of natural force of the universe. Maybe, ancient magic is some form of this kind, since unlike in the Harry Potter universe, the ability of the magician in Wizard of Earthsea measured by the knowledge of the true names of multiple phenomenon, in which they call forth in battle. The book ended after the main character call forth a name of something that kept on following him, presumably, death, which.. you can find something similar in Harry Potter. Correct me If I am wrong.

I believe that Ancient magic are the runes of Norse mythology and spoken into Latin origins, along with the creativity of a focused mind, anyone can cast a spell with godly strength if thought of in a enclosed spell, if witches and wizards were taught Latin, I bet that with Latin words with certain prefixes and suffixes, that a brand new spell can be made and cast by said witch or wizard

I kinda find the descriptions contradictory. Ancient magic is something so basic that you either have it or don't, and no wands are needed at all. But, then, it is so advanced that it requires really exact wand movements, etc... but, only shows up in 'late bloomers' who will then only attend school for a few years? Sorry, but none of that really meshes well.

I think Ancient Magic is Primordial Magic. It is a set of basic fundamental forces, like love. The unforgivable curses are like an attempt at having it, but 'not' having it, as Ancient Magic would require extreme emotional passion for an effect to occur, but, again, you either have, or don't have. Someone using the Unforgivables is someone who is filled with a form of envy (so they want to control, want to punish, want to kill) and that is a weaker thing than the purity of Ancient Magic.

However, I think the best analogy, easily made that is, would be the difference between a Sorcerer and Wizard (in D&D). But, more like if Wizards could have 'Sorcerer' abilities on top of Wizardry, except they'd have to roll for it like Psionics in 1st Edition (but far more rare). And, from what I have seen in the movies, and read/played... it is odd that the main practitioners have been, mostly, female. This might be purely accidental, but expected, though, as Rowling has kind of been revealing more and more of who she is over the years, and is now almost a 'Woman-Power' type personality, kind of bashing on men in general...

So, maybe back then, she was unknowingly biased, and wrote females to have a special kind of magic?

Iv always seen ancient magic as the essence of magic itself. Magic in its purest most natural form. It flows through things and can be channeled. I see wand spells as channeling that magic into casting an effect but to actually use ancient magic is to wield magic itself. And to do so affects the natural order of things (e.g cheating death).
Kind of like in star wars, the force can be used as a kind of power but it flows through everything. And some beings who gain a certain level of understanding literally become one with the force itself.
