After watching Batman V Superman, I couldn’t imagine Justice br any worse. Not on was it worse, it made Batman V Superman look like a f*cking masterpiece.

I loves the movie i dont know what the problem was ? The film was very well shot , music by hans zimmer and opening scene was gold . Fight was epic and sybder cut justice league was masterpiece

if I wanted to see The Dark Knight Returns then I would read The Dark Knight Returns

I feel like most criticism of this movie comes from a lack of understanding. Just because the Dark Knight returns presents an ideological conflict does NOT mean BVS needed to do this too. We can debate whether or not it was a good idea but it does NOT need to be that. Batman and Superman’s conflict in BVS is based on Batman being manipulated by Luthor and having the 1% chance mentality. Superman dislikes Batman’s methods but only fights Batman when he is manipulated by Luthor because of Martha as well. Also unlike DKR which presents Batman as “correct” this movie does the opposite with Batman realizing he was wrong. The ideological conflict works in the DKR as both Batman and Superman remain enemies at the end of that story (like Cap and Tony In Civil War) but since Batman and Superman were going to be fighting a common threat at the end of BVS, that deep rooted ideological conflict was not going to work in the same way

I feel like people don't understand the "save Martha" line's reason for existing, it's not because their mothers names are the same but it becomes confirmation that superman does have humanity, throughout all of the movie batman sees superman as an uncaring god type figure with no understanding of loss and hates him because he takes so much from others with no loss of his own. For example, the girls parents in the battle of superman and Zod, he destroys homes and businesses and kills countless people and never seems to suffer. This is why Bruce was so ready to kill him, Before Bruce only saw him as a supernatural being with no humanity but when he sees that superman is more than just a god and does have people he cares about Bruce can't kill him.

After watching JLA and rewatching BvS, BvS was good

The only reason i watched it was for "Save Marta"

People don't get it. It is not at all Snyder's fault. It is (yes,you guessed it) WB's. The writer of BVS said in an article that the movie was going to have a different ending which had a bit sense and was darker. WB told to scratch that and put Doomsday and Wonder Woman in there. We would have got a much greater movie than what we see today.

The problem with BvS is with superman and the title. Superman being this character still being confused on whether he wants to side with humanity or not...is what makes the title counter-intuitive. Batman is clear in his objective and superman is not and hence the climactic battle doesn't become a conflict of ideologies but rather something else. Superman is influenced by trynna save his mom, and batman is influenced by his nihilistic idealogy. Which makes the title, not about Batman VS Superman....in fact, that's not what the writer intended to title the movie in the first place. The whole movie was about, superman finding his true self and filling in the holes left by MoS. While for batman it's an awakening of his moral ideals. The movie isn't about ideologies... even tho it seems like that's what it was dealing with (but that's probably because of the failings of MoS) but rather about the "dawn of justice"...

So Batman is a dude in a costume and Superman is a god. How is that even a fight? That matter should be over in seconds won by SM. WTF

This was the problem with making the Man of Steel a dark and gritty movie, as when he eventually faces off against Batman there isn’t much distinction between the two. Even the coloring is off. Not having Superman, and Metropolis bright, primary colors, contrasted with the dark shades of Batman and Gotham, is a completely missed opportunity.

This video FAILS on every possible level. Batman V Superman is a masterpiece. Deal with it.

I agree with most of this, but I don't think superman's benevolence makes him boring and unrelateable. I think it's just so hard to write a character like that well. When it does work, it's amazing. I like things like injustice that show how dangerous he could be - but the main universe Supes needs to be a really good, hopeful, selfless person otherwise the whole dynamic of the universe doesn't work. Marvel made it work with Cap, DC makes it work in the arrowverse, Smallville, older films, animated stuff, comic books... I think if DC gave it a shot with Clark in the movies, they'd manage it but it's too late for that unless they reboot entirely.

One thing that didn't go wrong is the fact that Snyder made Superman selfish.

You get the basis of its ideologies but failed to include the variables of their history and the narrative it creates or where it leads, perhaps you disregarded it because it wasn't the focus of your analysis. If you're gonna explain something make sure to cover its full context before accusing it of going wrong.
Its a good analysis but conviniently incomplete. If you're too spineless and afraid of getting dogpiled by Snyderhaters then perhaps you shouldn't have made this.

Should have cast Mark Strong or Corey Stoll as Lex Luthor. Even Billy Zane would have been great.

Well... There is this free will for something...

For me, i believe that if there is a god or gods, they are constantly testing humanity (who knows why? probably on pursue of purpose) and giving choices to make... Gods can have moral too on wich we saw in a lot of the myths and religions nowdays, yet, free will still exists for something... Porbably something for us to learn and create...

I think i find it fascinating, the same as ants builds a nest with the colony in order to prosper and expand the colony, same could be said for humanity

Pretty simple: If you excise 30 minutes from any movie, I would argue, you will end up with a choppy, nonsensical mess. This movie did gangbusters on Thursday and Friday, but by Saturday word-of-mouth among general audiences was that the movie was confusing. The studio wanted more screenings per day rather than the film having legs. I would argue that had they not been so shortsighted and released the full cut, the plot, though complex, would have made sense and made well over a billion. However, that ill-fated decision led to a box office drop, that was news worthy itself, and then a more skeptical audience begins to dogpile on the film. A film that is more favorably received is given much more grace for flaws in the film. I bought the Ultimate Edition just to understand the plot. I realized had this been the theatrical release, the history of the DCEU would be much different.

I personally have no idea, what people didn't understand or liked in this movie, maybe because I watched ultimate edition in the first place. But to me this movie remains an epic.

Lex Luther casting is what went wrong--- really really wrong!

Batman thinks Superman is a threat to humanity, so he decides to kill him? Superman was humanity's greatest weapon when fighting against other Kryptonians. Batman should understand that and seek Superman as an ally. I realize they go to great lengths to pit these two against each other, but in the comics, both Superman and especially Batman are very smart people, so this is just a terrible script, despite a few good scenes of dialogue. How they could finance something so obviously wrong-headed from the page for these two legendary characters is beyond all comprehension.

Here's how I would have done it I would have the movie begin with Bruce saving people from a particle accelerator explosion in central city that has so big of a blast it affected Gotham wall jokerz use this to their advantage I would have this give Bruce the I deal to become Batman seeing that the people of Gotham need him then I would show that a mouth later meta humans have appeared and have Bruce Wayne work with mpd Gpd ccpd and lex luthor who in this would be played by Michael Roseanbaum from Smallville I would have them work together to create meta humans detectors from season 2 of the flash I would have Clark find out that these police departments are framing metas and are using red kryptonite to mass brain wash them and get them in jail this would be like the winter and silvil war I would have superman confront Bruce on this and have Bruce say hell look into it Bruce would look into it and inform Superman nothing's he locked into it and everything is normal then a teenage boy meta human with fire powers burn a live and have gcp say the boy was a tearist I would have this send Superman over the edge and I would have him go to Bruce and demand him to stop this I would have bruce say what happened with the kid wasn't his fault he Sase I'm not saying the kid was a murderer but they locket into it the best they could then I have superman say the best they could was not enough then I would have superman find out that lex luthor was the one who's ben causing the meta humans to use there powers for bad and froy him on top of a building i have superman say there is one thing I don't get if the kid was under the influence of red kryptonite why did he ask him for help instead of attacking him lex the kid was never under the influence of red kryptonite they took away his tissue so he would burn alive then I would have Batman show up he put tracking device on Superman and he now See's from his point a view Superman attempting to kill his business partner lex Luther Batman attacks superman then Superman sase lex luthor is the one behind all the meta attacks Batman and Superman fight lex Luther the end and in the post credits Lois brings clark some files with other heroes pictures in them it would be a tease to justice league

Nothing it's a near perfect movie. Anyone who disagrees simply didn't understand it and sucks to be them

the movie was just way ahead of its time, superman was supposed to have the injustice arc- where he wents rogue and ends up killing all humanity for sake of lois lane and flash to time travel back to 2016 and inform batman to protect lois and kill superman! that was all the main reason that batman wanted to kill superman- jack synder really made this movie his own infinity war from where the real dc universe would have started but he couldnt because of josh whedon take on justice league.... this movie really made a lot of sense to us in 2023
