Should you buy a Z590? Asus Maximus XIII Hero Z590 motherboard review!

I just got the hero and its amazzzzing with my 10900k. Oc wise im hitting 5.2 with much lower voltage and temp. I will be getting the 11900k just because

I heard alders going to be more workstation oriented... howd you get a chip btw. Im an early adopter for intel and nvidia and would like to get involved in testing.

Dude you keep calling them Mousefets smh and its stupid to complain about future proofed features & upgrades especially when we are paying for them anyway. Oh and Alder Lake isn't coming in 6 months, I very much doubt we will see Alder Lake in 2021 and it will probably have half baked pcie 5.0 & ddr5 if at all!

And another question. Do we know if the lower clock speeds of the 11th gen cpu in your review are because it's an engineering sample?
Is it common to expect the retail product to be clocked differently (higher?)?

I bought the board, and currently using it with Pentium G6400 (lol !), till i can get a Rocket Lake chip.
Here's the thing. The PCH temp is 65°C at idle. While gaming, it can go up to 80°C !! Is this normal, cause i'm a bit concerned. My case airflow is good, and CPU / GPU Temp are perfect.

I have removed all films from M.2 heatsinks. So, i doubt, but could there be a film under the PCH too that i have not removed ? Also, could this be caused by the silly plastic / ROG logo cover on top of the pch ? Lastly, could this be due to me using the bottom M.2 slot ? (since top M.2 is only enabled for 11th Gen).

The MB on my gaming rig died, and being EOL was just ridiculous to try and replace, so I built a Z590 system with the XIII. I didn't want to upgrade until Alder Lake. Ugh.

Hello, can you explain or point to some data about ProCool II power connectors? I was not able to find something meaningful.
Should we use both connectors? I saw some setups using only one. What's the difference?

Is the maximus xii doing okay with i7-11700k?

I bought this board along with the 11900k. Pretty buggy and kept crashing(clock watchdog). Tried multiple win10 pro installs and still didn't fix the issue. It also crashed whenever Razor synapse was installing or plugging in the keyboard itself.
I had the latest bios upgrade too.
Finally, before going to opt for another Motherboard, I installed a beta version of the bios and it helped get rid of the crash issue. I also replaced the razor peripherals and bought corsair.
However, once in a while, the keyboard and mouse does not get recognized until I have to re-plug them. I gave my Razer peripherals to a friend and they work just fine.
So it definitely is the bios or I'm not sure what is.
Please reconsider before buying this board!

What is the best fee to buy Asus Maximus XIII Hero Z590 or Asus ROG Maximus XI Extreme Z390 ???

My question is should I buy Maximus XII Formula with i9 11900k or Maximus XIII Hero with i9 11900k.

I need a new motherboard now. Should I buy the last year msi ace z490 for 250 usd now or spend the extra on an asus hero xiii for 390 usd or the aorus master for 340 usd?

I'm planning on getting the Hero XIII and 11th Gen 11700k or Non-k, or should I wait for the 12 gen?

First off excellent review, I have a question for you. I'm looking at building my first PC ever. I'm going i9 10900k 3080ti fe and my question is this. What's a good mobo for my setup that I'm not going to be wasting money. I was looking at z490 egaming and the xii hero. I plan to game on it playing the usual competitive fps games etc. What mobo should I go after? If there are other choices fill me in as I'm clueless here lol. Thanks for any help in advance.

if you produced music and you used UAD Apollo hardware you would see the need for thunderbolt

I did notice when referring to the PCI-E 3.0 switching, the board itself says MAXIMUS XII, and not XIII. Am I missing something or does the XIII also labeled XII? Very thorough review, greatly appreciated!!!

nice review, I just read your forum post on LTT(which i've been boycotting for like a year LOL) because I just bought this board for an 11900k. Thought I'd just give an experience update given the platform has had some time to mature. I've had a great experience with mine, I got all the necessary BIOS and chipset stuff updated to most recent. Overclocked the balls off my cpu to 5.2ghz all-core and overclocked my ram to 3733cl14 14 14. Using 980 pro ssd connected to the cpu at pcie 4 via 4 lanes. 3080 running at pcie 4 x16. Everything working as advertised, it's been the easiest and most dialed board I've had so far. Getting 17k in R23, sub 40ns ram latency and around 60k bandwidth. All very good results relative to the 11900k. For 11900k's on HWbot, for r23 with water cooling, I'm on the first page! (top 20). My PCH does run hot, hotter than the posters in your thread, but it has not been an issue. It was actually higher, but I deactivated the Thunderbolt ports, my SATA controller(only using nvme), and the lan port I'm not using so I got it about 15c lower than stock.
