They had to do it to him before he became too powerful like the X-Men Quicksilver. I know they didn't have the rights yet, but I think it worked out for plot. If Wanda gets power upgrades, so would he, and I think that would break the plot. Speedster powers are broken. Thanos trying to genocide half the universe? Fast af boi either snatches the stones, or they bench him that movie so they don't have to deal with him.

The bullet scene right after he pulls the plugs on Vision shows that this Pietro is just as fast as the Fox one. The writers really didn't do his character justice, getting him killed by getting shot when he could've moved the bullets or Clint away

Some guys were saying that some of the reasons why he died so early is because there were 2 Quicksilvers at the time and they wanted to avoid confusion, and Pietro would have been a plot killer, being too op with his superspeed,, and they wanted to suprise audiences and show that heroes aren't always safe. And that he had to die so Wanda could get her character development. I wanted to propose an idea. What if Quicksilver didn't die in AoU, and sometime in early 2016 before Civil War, there was a solo movie about the Maximoff twins, and Pietro dies at the end of that movie instead? That way, we'd have a solid movie focusing on the twins, Marvel would still be able to show that heroes can get killed, Wanda would still get character development, and our boy Quicksilver would get a little more time in the MCU instead of getting killed off in his first full appearance. Let me know if this is a good idea or not.
