It has the same sail system as the black pearl yes?
ОтветитьWe were fortunate to do a pass around this fantastic vessel in our bareboat charter catamaran when she was anchored just off Saint Maarten near Simpson Bay, I think not long after 911. We kept our distance as everyone was nervous about security those days. It was absolutely stunning and even too large to enter the bay which is always full of super yachts. I’ve watched everything I come across regarding this masterpiece. Great video even if it is dated.
ОтветитьThis video is very obviously like 20 years old.
ОтветитьIf you have to baby sit the sails so much there should be reusable breakaways with in the fabric that relive tension when at a certain amount of pressure that can be reset. 🤷♂️
ОтветитьDeceptive title. Gives almost no insight into the mechanics of MF's rig. Just interior shots of another megayacht. Waste of 16minutes.
ОтветитьThe "invisible" owner, Tom Perkins, passed away in 2016. Haven't finished the video yet but I'm somewhat astonished that this wasn't immediately brought up when they started to talk about him and his books.
ОтветитьIn the movie "The Maltese Falcon" with Humphrey Bogart, the black falcon statue was supposed to be solid Gold. But in the end, it was a fake.
ОтветитьWe live in hell
Ответитьi sailed right next to her going under the Golden Gate Bridge the first time Tom brought her to the Bay Area. Mega impressive to say the least.
ОтветитьHopefully this boat doesn’t try taking a trip under the Brooklyn bridge.
ОтветитьNice underwater view but how could you stop it before we got to see the rudder?
ОтветитьMan this thing is incredible, idk if this or the black pearl is the best sailing yacht. Both are so incredible!
ОтветитьI don’t know, looks possible to me. We really are losing our way with words.
ОтветитьHow's the rig to windward?
Give no f@#$ for shamglam what lines on the wind are we talking?
30% into it? 65%???
It's kind of impressive, but far too ostentatious for my liking. I'd also doubt the efficiency of the rig, and as for stability... maybe in the same class as Bayesian ? 🤔🇦🇺
ОтветитьNot a fan
ОтветитьThis is pre refit. Great video though thanks for posting.
ОтветитьTruly impressive!
ОтветитьThe fabricated “we couldn’t find her for ten months” drama is kind of laughable and completely unnecessary. That vessel like all other mega yachts has AIS operating virtually all the time and always when underway.
ОтветитьI’ve always thought the idea of fully automated rig with the ability to raise, lower, and trim sails automatically in response to wind and weather conditions sounded so cool. I also remember reading this novel “Ship Breaker” as a kid that left an impression on me, and in it were these super advanced, luxurious “clipper ships” with no engines that would use huge automated sails to fly above the waves. This ship has always seemed like the closest thing to that in real life. I love it. It has a kind of solar punk aesthetic and design (minus the punk maybe, it is still a super yacht). Beautiful nonetheless.
ОтветитьGreat music video!
ОтветитьPeople like this are the most HATED people in the world! Sad. It's called ENVY!!!
ОтветитьNarcisismo doentio
ОтветитьYour flag is dragging in the water! Looks horrible, and if you're superstitious, it's very bad luck. Better fix that straight away. What kind of sloppy organization doesn't catch something like that? Shocking!
ОтветитьThis is definitely the bad guys boat in James Bond
ОтветитьLOL, "Captain" more like chief steward who was told to give a tour at the last second and pretend he is the Captain. No way this dullard is operating anything.
Ответитьadesso c'è un comandante italiano
ОтветитьLa déco intérieur c'est une catastrophe.
L'argent n'achète pas le bon goût.
i wonder how reliable that sail deployment system is? i have to think that there's a million and one ways that it could go wrong.
ОтветитьJames Bond's vibes every where.
ОтветитьStupid. I noticed no one owns it for long periods because it's even financially stupid for the rich
ОтветитьI've worked on her in Antigua 2008/09 season, replacing deck prisms and completely resealed her huge circular superstructure windows that surround the main mast. A nice job, nice crew, and had a couple of dock parties too.
ОтветитьThat took way too long to find out dude just pressed a button....
ОтветитьIsolated in a wheel house isn't my idea of sailing...but when you got $100M to blow...who wants to get sticky, salt spray on your skin..
ОтветитьSails don't usually "go away"? The term used is "furled"?
Ответить*ship
ОтветитьNot quite sure it resembles a flying saucer but hey let’s go with it….and 15 minutes seems rather a long time to learn to sail it…!😊
ОтветитьThe original idea did not come from Tom Perkins, that’s absurd. Revisionist History billionaire style
ОтветитьChris Gardner use to be the skipper of Black Pearl. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful yacht!
ОтветитьHate that design …
Ответитьthats not building .. thats sitting down drawing pictures sitting
ОтветитьTom Perkins sold S/Y Maltese Falcon in 2009. He died in 2016. How old is this video?
ОтветитьSpecial 20 years ago but the world has moved on
ОтветитьI’m such a racist. At first i thought the beardy character was some other Turk or exotic stranger but when i saw it was a white blue eyed west European like me my aversion disappeared other than that he badly needs a shave and a haircut.
ОтветитьWhat a beautiful ship. Dark, sleek, and mysterious! The interior on the other hand, could definitely use an overhaul. In fact, I find it quite terrible.
