Even in the world like here in Africa if we here one of the players supports abortion that's red flag. Players should just play and not get into politics just Michael Jordan did. I'm really not too mad about a ton of threes, but to take 108 threes and only score a total of 225 is pretty bad. It means you aren't taking threes because they're good shots, you're taking them because it's easier to just take threes than run offense

the guys are missing the point there.. there was not a single 'three point contest' in the NBA Cup was there?? because it matters.. the regular season doesnt matter, you can lose 10 in a row and still make the play-in, its basically pre-season up until february when some teams need to make a push.. so you have 3 months of just whatever and you wonder why they take 60 3s. agree with what shaq said its about strategy - if you make them you win cause they count for more points than a layup.. 3s are harder to guard hence easier to shoot.. but harder to score

TOP 3 ACTUAL REASONS FOR NBA RATINGS CRASH

1. Times have changed. Young people are not going to watch the NBA / NHL game for 3 hours. THAT's ACTUALLY it. NFL is different and each game is crucial. Young people, even while "watching" a game, are on THEIR PHONES!!!!! Additionally people can "watch" a game by simply following it on their phone or computer every 15-20 minutes to see who's ahead and who's doing what. The reason you don't hear anyone of any importance say this aloud is very $imple ... once the advertisers catch on that this is the case it is a WRAP for the league and the ad revenue they get will dry up. That means no more BLOATED contracts for these divas who cannot hide their disdain for the average sports ball fan.

2. Kneeling. You think people forgot that these emotional divas told their audience "WE DON'T NEED YOU"? Then you "load manage" while getting obscene amounts of money while people are struggling to put food on the table. Then you are going to tell people "silence is violence" when you don't support the latest dumbass criminal getting shot by police while resisting arrest? LOL. People can now MORE THAN EVER see these athletes for what they are ... greedy phucks that have no loyalty and couldn't give a rat's ass about the sport or their fans. So why should fans care? Then you have leftist morons like "Pop" and Kerr preaching to us how to vote. GTFOH.

3. The game is NOT COMPELLING. A major reason for that is excessive 3's like everyone is TRYING DESPERATELY to blame for the erosion of the quality of the game when in fact it's the FIRST TWO REASONS the ratings have crashed. There's no reason the Bulls and Celtics should have taken 108 3-pt shots yesterday Thursday Dec. 19, 2024. But shooting too many 3's is NOT the only reason the game is no longer compelling. People can see with their own eyes the BULLSHIT that goes on with favoring floppers like LeCry. That perception of lack of fairness erodes and injures the game and after a while people TUNE OUT. The All Star Game showed you what garbage the sport has become and that's because no one CARED to play defense which is what used to make this game compelling. And lastly, there are NO RELATABLE STARS nor teams. None. Zilch. No Kobe, no MJ, no Magic, etc.

Notice how all the talking heads magically in unison are all blaming the erosion of viewership on excessive 3's? Notice? That's NOT the real reason the sport sucks. It's the first two reasons I listed above and it's going to likely be IMPOSSIBLE for them to recover. Introducing gimmicks is not going to bring the NBA back to where it was 20-35 years ago.

I'll add another reason viewership is down: Those corporate logos on the jerseys. They're so "soulless." It reminds many fans that this is just a big, greedy money-making machine. It's not enjoyable. MLB has a similar problem with the corporate logos on the jerseys and batting helmets.

There’s too many games . There’s no sense of urgency for the first half of the season. And then more than half the teams make the playoffs. And then the playoffs last like 2 months.

A big reason is the players themselves don't seem to be that invested in it (load management) a lack of general intensity, esp on the defensive end in the reg season

Talent just ain’t there and was bound to drop off after historic number of hof players in early 2000s. Lack of defense and having great players like kwahi and embid injured don’t help. League is filled with great role players that are consider stars in today’s league.
