People of all religions in the world make donations in their immediate community for the upliftment and welfare of the less fortunate and so do they ,, only difference is, being an educated and wealthy community the volumtary donations here, are much larger ,,

The Aga Khan, a descendent of the holy prophet ( PBUH ) who himself is a very wealthy person is the Imam ( religious leader ) of this community and so all the donations are handed to him who in turn diverts the funds towards the various well organised educational, housing, medical and other institutions within the community as well as outside, with the help of international govts for the same purpose and more, like - water irrigation, restorations of important historical, heritage sites, construction of housing, schools, colleges and hospitals where need, etc.

The Aga Khan is the most popular and liked muslim religious leader in the world for a reason ,, one can just google to learn about his contributions towards humanity and his jamat's ( community's ) achievements in various fields, across the globe
