I thought it was a good trade, but thought it was well illustrated, backed by stats. Well done…. I like Kat, but the Wolves needed to part ways with him. Can’t wait for DiVincenzo to light it up! I also want Reid to start, allowing for better spacing with Rudy. Randle will provide great size off the bench.

Knicks fan here. Divo can shoot, rebound, steal, assist, defend and win championships. Knicks screwed themselves and wolves better learn how to use him and give him plenty of minutes.

That goes all three ways of the players that have been traded. And all three of them players play with a chip on their shoulder. What an interesting season for Knicks and Minnesota.

I agree with most of the analysis of Kat, but disagree on the fight in him. Kat had fight in him this last year. He was good on defense against Jokic in the regular season and playoffs. He had to guard Kevin Durant in round 1. He was actually good on defense this year when he had the primary assignment. He's really big, and really strong. We are going to miss having a player of his size this year.

Naz can replace some of those minutes on defense, but the thing was in G7 against the Nuggets, Jokic got gassed because we had so many players to throw at him and he had no help. We rotated 3 players on Jokic, and he just had nothing left in the 4th, which is why we were able to come back.

That said, Kat was probably hurt, and definitely trash against the Mavs.

Decent pod. I’m going to follow to keep tabs on my guys Dante and Julius. As a Knick fan I’m still leaning towards not liking the trade. I’m like 60/40 against. With that being said I’m seeing a lot of Minnesota fans acting like Randle is some filler or scrub and even you guys with talking about number 2 option is up for grabs. Yall can’t be serious. As a knicks fan I feel like we got fleeced. Randle’s not as talented offensively, but he’s a mature work horse with a dog mentality. Donte was a steal for us and borderline star. We lost those guys and our financially flexibility for a guy who gets paid but not play like a superstar.

The fact Randle is on a one year, he will play his ass off. He wants that big contract, whether its with us or someone else. I expect a great year from him too

The only reason the trade happened is because KAT doesn't play winning basketball. The stats are great but he fouls too much, turns it over too much and struggles to play consistent defense. They get defense in return along with post presence and 3 point shooting

What the Knicks have lost in the Trade. Randle is the 2nd best creator, he is the best post up player, outstanding man on man defense. He demands a double team. He is anything but soft. Over the past 4 seasons, only one player has committed more fowls than Towns. He has led the NBA in offensive fowls for 4 consecutive years. kat is soft. A jump shooting center who only played 250 games over 5 years.

KAT was surpressing his game and that’s why we had to trade him. Can’t keep a player that no longer wanted to be here. It’ll irritate the hell out of me when his bonehead plays suddenly vanish but it is what it is. Ant’s Team

On lineup combinations, how do you know KATs being a plus net rating player was put with bad plus/minus net ratings to improve those combinations? Second, KAT being a defensive draw like no other also contributes to these plus/minus ratings.

On KATs fouls, this is a major culprit in why KAT is called soft. Being he is 7 feet, he can post up, but teams have learned that he'll blow by bigger slower defenders; beats them all the time. So, teams began play smaller players on him to have more flexibilty in guarding him on the perimeter. So, he would take the smaller players to the post, but due to the league being stricter on body contact, Towns often gets an offensive foul called against him do to his size, strength over the other player, and beinf agressive. Often times when he spins to the hoop his elbows are at the height of the defenders head and makes contact. As Finch calls it at times, Towns commits "stray voltage," but a lot of the times whats happening is what i just described.

If you’re a Wolves fan and you hate this trade, you just have an overly emotional attachment to someone who has simply been here for a while. A lot of Minnesota fans simply don’t understand what moves are necessary to build a champion and to cry over KAT of all people is proof of that 😂. Mackey has brought some great stats to illustrate how overrated KAT was in this lineup. Why do our fans love these players that can’t perform in the playoffs, when the games matter more than ever?

this Trade and Rudy's contract restructures the roster salary, so the best player makes most, down to the bottom of the bench making the least. Clearly defined Salary scale is the best way to handle a team. TC is ready now to run this team for another decade with everything in it's place.
