I can’t it to work with the ringtones I’ve already purchased. They don’t show up on GarageBand.

I’m on 17.0.2 and it didn’t work on my phone.

I did this, but it still doesn't become available anywhere but under ringtones

More work then it's worth. FIX THE TEXT TONES APPLE!!!!

This works perfectly and although everyone would prefer a simple menu selection, this works 100% for assigning custom text tones. Not sure why so many negative comments when it’s a very straightforward tutorial and it also solves the problem. Thanks!

Don’t lie

if you follow the instructions EXACTLY TO THE LETTER it should work for you. FWIW I am on iOS 17.0.3, your mileage may vary. PenguinTalk, THANK YOU so very very much for restoring my sanity. Even though we should not have to go to such drastic steps to personalize this specific tone, I'm willing to do it. I want my incoming text (notification) sound to be MINE & MINE alone so I can distinguish from EVERYONE else who uses the same two or three different tones. I thought the whole Apple/Mac/iPhone ecosytem was based on expressing ones own individuality? What happened, Apple??

I’m on 17.1.1 and it’s still broken. On call for work and this update got me in trouble at work. I can’t set an annoying text tone to wake me up. Thanks apple! Sammy would never have done this to me.

This worked! Thank you! Another tip, if you have it assigned to someone specific you can do that by selecting "Assign to contact" and then it gives you the option to select ring or text tone.

didn't need to do this I think they fixed it cuz all of the ones I made are back !!!!
