I'm slowly getting into working on cars as my hobby and this hands down is one of the best videos I come across about LS motors TY.
ОтветитьHow to get LS to start after driving it heat soak on starter or wires ?
ОтветитьThat Busa is sick.
ОтветитьSO BASECLY, WHAT YOU'RE SAYING IS THE LS ENGINE NEEDS A FLUX CAPACITOR, SO IT CAN QUICKLY REACH 77 MILES PER HOUR IN ORDER TO MAKE TIME TRAVEL POSSIBLE.
Ответить.....ummm.... clearly gm dont know what they're doin as the oil system is a failure🤷♀
Ответитьwelp the ls im getting has no oil pressure and alot of miles i have to change the bottom end
ОтветитьAgree with other drivers, to make an LS reliable do nothing lol. My 99 pickup has 225k on it original everything besides starter and AC lol.
ОтветитьI haven’t watched the video yet but I’d say for reliability in mind, I like to do the truion upgrade with the Che bushings. I also always stick gen iv rods in my gen 3s. Arp main and head bolts. Multilayer head gaskets.
Ответить5 things.. 1 put gas in it. 2 change oil regularly. 3 repeat 1,2. 4 do what 3 says. 5 keep doing what 3 says.
Ответитьthanks again, glad I watched this again I forgot to get the oil pickup shit.
yall pay attention on scamazon, only like 3 of the non melling chinese pickup tube girdles have grade 10.9 hardware or whatever. dont "improve" your engine by adding loose broke off bold heads around the windage tray lols
I love the "put in gas" comment, but I'll do what this video claimed to do.
1. Change your oil. And don't buy a clapped out LS thinking oil will fix it. It's Metal..
2. New GM Temp sensor. Start fresh, know your engine is getting good info.
3. Clean the MAF. Know your engine is getting good info.
4. Fix exhaust manifold leaks. There are a ton of videos and aftermarket solutions so most guys can do this in the driveway.
5. If you're dating a guy that can't do 1-4, find a new guy!
6. Bonus. Get rid of the oiled air filters on the daily driver!
Video on dry sump conversion?
ОтветитьWhich brand knock sensors do you recommend for a stock 98 5.7 & 05 5.3 ???
Ответитьyou had detonation i don't see any coolant cross flow lines . and i broke LS7 lifters in the past i use only Johnson lifters because the lifters are the worst part in a LS
ОтветитьHolly sells a kit for gen3 LS that covers all 5 steps
ОтветитьGreat information. I will run mine oil to the top of the hash marks after watching this video. Thats just for a daily driver truck.
ОтветитьMy son in law has dynamited three LS engines in his work trucks. Every time it has been either the oil ring at the cam shaft or the ring failed at the oil pick up. He finally gave up having an LS survive and bought a beater with an old small block instead.
ОтветитьI'm just going in a straight line... This looks insane... I bet you could avoid some spicy car accidents
ОтветитьGreat
ОтветитьOnly need 2 things: gasoline and an ignition key!
ОтветитьMaybe this is already a thing… but run a basic system that - in the event your oil pressure goes to zero - the ecu kills the motor before oil starvation does. I’m sure that’s easy to do.
ОтветитьThanks now my rocker arms aren't reliable!
Jackass...
You should pay us all to have these gd bronze trunnions replaced!
Was adding these items to a list at Amazon and noticed a barbell with a seal on both ends with high reviews from Improved Racing. Also notices a pickup brace that goes onto both bolt holes from various companies and they discovered would not fit LQ4s, so your pick is prob the better choice.. Stumbled onto your video after looking up a header kit and searching for videos of any issues with installation.. I used to drift my 69 GTO back before they called it drifting, I could aim my headlights at a car spinning a donut around it at 60 and took many high speed corners racing around Denver back in the early 80s after cops got in trouble for a high speed pursuit and were told no more engagements so I had a lot of fun for the 6 months I lived there... I would have been all over this when younger if it were a thing... sure love when that car handles like it is a part of you and does everything you command of it, it is a rush.. carry on...
Ответитьnumber one way to make an LS1/6 reliable: leave it stock asf
ОтветитьWhen you said camshaft retainer plate first, you got an instant like. $20 part. Looking at 80 psi of oil pressure feels good after a fresh cam swap. My truck picked up 20 psi across the board after replacing it. 90,000 mile lm7.
ОтветитьPush rods are like an orifice....high volume oil pump can only squeeze so much pressure thru them..slightly modified shim on standard pump works just fine
ОтветитьIt was called a shuttle valve by a Ford engineer in the 80-90’s. He showed it to me on his RS -200. It’s really important to maintain oil pressure at all times.
ОтветитьKeep it under 6.5k, and change the oil. Reliable.
ОтветитьI’m disappointed this list isn’t, used oil from your lawn mower, 300kit of nitrous , precision 88 and a Cleetus McFarland moon tune…
ОтветитьThat damn leaky pickup tube lol been there at least twice or three times on two vehicles. Always at like 180k miles or when you overheat the motor
ОтветитьThere is always a point of diminishing returns when it come to engines. When it comes to performance you can have fast or you can have reliable and the two are not interchangeable. You can build a drag car, track car or a reliable car. You can try to make you car do all three and this is where the point of diminishing returns comes in. Even at its best the third type of car will be excellent for its application, but it won’t be faster than the full drag car or the full track car. It will be a very fun car to drive. I have a Camaro 2023 and the car is stock. The engineers did their best to give us that third option. My car goes 0-60 in 3.8 sec ran the 1/4 mile in 12.07 sec and handles the road like a champ. 455 hp, 455 torque 10 speed automatic. I get 30 mpg at 80 mph average on the freeway. I have all of the modern interior comforts like A/C heated and cooled seats. So I ask you if the third type of car and not the full race or full track is what you want, why not just buy it from the dealer new. If you have not purchased a 6th Generation Camaro 6.2L A10 you missed out because they are no longer for sale at the dealerships. I do plan on some upgrades in time to make her a little faster. I want to keep my mpg on the freeway as I use the freeway a lot.
Ответить1 # make a ls engine reliable = buy one!😊
ОтветитьMm....i like this video. Gonna save it. Thanks
ОтветитьThanking you, helpful just ordering all these parts. Champion !
ОтветитьSmart dude. Thanks for the intel
ОтветитьAwesome video! Thanks for sharing all this great info.
ОтветитьWhat you need if under boost
ОтветитьLifters!!!!
ОтветитьHow to make reliable? Hmmm don’t modify it , if you do just put gas in it ,and when that’s don’t just put more in , you just ran out , ls has no bad rap , bad rap. Is anything that says “ ford “. Mopar can do it right , but ls does it better
Ответитьif that alluminum dunbell is tighter at ambient temperatures I would be interested how well it seals at full operating pressure knowing that the materials would expand differently.
ОтветитьI’ve blown two fucking ls1 I spent l6 money on my damn c5 I needed this video
ОтветитьIdk why u used a truck as a reference for a car that’s not getting beat tf up but then there’s my truck that gets beat tf up daily
ОтветитьIdk why u used a truck as a reference for a car that’s not getting beat tf up but then there’s my truck that gets beat tf up daily
ОтветитьGood advise here. I’m putting my second motor together and took it from a running vehicle that i personally drove 600 miles. Oil pressure gauge was bad. So idk what OP was but no noises. Should I pop the rods and mains just to see or just leave it alone. I did look at the cam bearings (oops) gonna pretend I did not see that lol
Ответитьwatching this while i got inspection car with oil leaking from everywhere in my c6 ls3 vette
ОтветитьCoyote swap it. then is reliable
ОтветитьThank you… 👌
ОтветитьThank you for the information
It helps me alot since I’m a Ford guy who spends the last 10 years with coyotes 5.0
And now switching to GM LS family
I really needed this information at the last part I can’t keep the bottom end because I have to replace crank relector wheel from gen4 to gen3
I try to include this info in videos while working on engines, but it's hard to get it all in them along with the work. So I wanted to make this video covering some of the things I've learned over the years with my LS Builds to help anyone out who's taking the plunge themselves.
