ОтветитьI júst realised that the word "victim" is actually weird in Dutch. Or...funny at least.
Slachtoffer, is victim. It means slaughtersacrifice.
So you'll use that in a newspaper; 'The slaughtersacrifice of the carcrash was a 5-year old girl."
My wife finds “verrukkelijk” very strange because it means tasty but sounds as if disgusting.

ОтветитьA Dutch woman in Kansas taught me to speak Dutch so I could write to my pen pal in his language. My teacher came from Friesland, and I copied her pronunciation. I got to spend about three months in The Netherlands, and people kept asking how long I had lived in Friesland. I had never been there! LOL
ОтветитьMy nephew has a German girlfriend and her Dutch teacher told her to repeat these words over and over again: KIJKEN, KUIKEN and KEUKEN. These, apparently, were very difficult vowel combinations. Difficult????? Wahahahaaha!!!
ОтветитьAambeien
ОтветитьEisenbahnknotenpunkthinundherschauber.
Daar komen wij gewoon uit 🤗 geen probleem. Soort wissel bediende die op het spoor aan een hendel staat te rukken.
Helder. 😁
Die eerste gast met dat baardje is keurig opgevoed.
“Lekker” heeft alleen met eten te maken.

ОтветитьThe American name "Aaron" has a double vowel.
ОтветитьScharminkel
ОтветитьLekker is also my favorite word!! I'm 4 days in on doulingo learning Dutch. So fun!!
ОтветитьDe vraag, "Hoe laat is het", klinkt voor engelse oren als, "Who let is shit?"
ОтветитьMine is “ardappel” i think that means fries or idk 💀
ОтветитьBejaarden doesn't translate to old people though freely translated it would be more like elderly and in the literal sense, it implies a person that's lived a lot of years. So it would be closer to home for the aged rather than old people's home which would translate back to 'oude mensen tehuis' which would be pretty rude to say here.
ОтветитьHoofdrol !
Ответитьlook up english word Torch and translate that and say it loud and slow with two syllables. Enjoy. good to see that google plays ball: listen to it : )
ОтветитьBejaardentehuis is sowieso al geen woord meer wat gebruikt ‘mag’ worden in Nederland. Het is een verzorgingstehuis
ОтветитьI got a little distracted by the brazilian girl
ОтветитьThe whole language is funny.
When I was in Maastrich once, I got ranted on by a dutch police woman and I couldn't stop but laughing.
I'm so sorry but it's true. Fortunately she was understanding.
My German husband loves it that when something new appears we Dutch invent words/names for it: Like: „De flappentap werd het slachtoffer van een plofkraak dus nu kun je daar niet Pinnen“ (The ATM fell victim to an explosion detonated by thieves, so now you can’t get money there.) Flappentap, Plofkraak, Pinnen. I would not know words for that, that are not descriptive in English or German. ATM or Geldautomat, are descriptive terms, not names,
Ответитьkakkerlak.
Ответитьcan we use strange dutch swear words????? i know a few. can i ??? please????
ОтветитьStill can't get over handschoenen.
Jesus Christ, I love how literal minded my Dutchies are.
