Barbaric. Smart, healthy organizations love you coming in and out. LDS leaders flex on dissenters because they need the problem to be the excommunicated person rather than own their problems. It's this gaslighting that shows everyone who they really are.

I can't listen as it brings back so much hurt from the injustice suffered 30 years ago at my ex com. They have NO idea what they do to good people. They take your life off you with one sentence.

My heart breaks for Nemo in this horrific barbaric farce of “discipline.” How disgusting and disheartening that he’s experiencing this, all for seeking and standing up for truth and honesty and integrity.

I believe 'Nemo' has his heart in the right place and just wants the church to be honest about its history and changing doctrine and views. if I were the church I would hire him to fix stuff and if they don't want to fix things I'd Ex him and keep him from telling the truth

I was never subjected to the ridiculous church court. I was very much done with the church, and it was appearing as real to me as Fred Flintstone. I sent a letter telling them not to contact me. If they had called me in, I would have told them where to go.

I’m a Never Mormon but I’ve found so much value in this podcast for understanding, enlightenment and even my own healing & deconstruction (don’t consider myself as being from a “high demand” religion btw). I am particularly feeling for Nemo right now. Appreciate you, John and all of the other participants for providing this support to him & also shining this light.

Why would I want to remain as a member of such a monumental lie?

Every one on this panel KNEW exactly what the outcome would be! As an ex-mo this process is barbaric and pure evil! They know the end before it begins! This is just like the salem witch trials, a total sham despite the evidence! When Jesus said "I never knew you," He saw the Mormon Church and it's workings in full display! The anger I am feeling is beyond anything I have ever felt! They lead that young man to slaughter! Now, telling him his family and wife are forever separated is utterly disgusting! Nemo , his wife and family will stand with Jesus while this church is cast with the goats!

As a Never Mormon I spend a lot of time listening to and watching the podcasts. I live in a densely populated LDS community and I choose to learn more about their lives. It makes me sad that my female friends live under the oppression of their faith and likely still believe that Jos Smith was a great man. (NOT). Like those crazy Trump supporters who will not believe he is demented, my friends are equally blind to the lies of the church leaders. I was away from technology today and spent a lot of time thinking about Nemo, his goodness and the power his team of accusers have over him. Blessings on Nemo and his family, he is an amazing man.

First, I know that surname…. Heath. I think I knew the Heaths when I lived in the UK. ❤ Next, I don’t know why but Nemo’s excommunication is hitting me particularly hard. I was in the Mormon Stories space for Natasha’s as well, which was horrendous. Yet, knowing how the “church” treats women it was almost inevitable, the violence of their actions against her. Unforgiveable, but not unexpected. With Nemo, I’m heartbroken again. Peace and light to everyone xxxx

That a beautiful truth-seeker and truth-teller ❤ like Nemo has been forced to undergo such an abominable process is a sad commentary in and of itself on the state of the Mormon church. Nemo - you are loved … even here in Quebec by one who has always questioned and rarely received answers until upstanding members like yourself decided to make things public. Born and raised in a large, true believing Mormon family in Utah. Came to learn the Church is not true, and Joseph Smith was a conman. I resigned the Church. Why go through this trauma? Just resign.

By the way: the Catholic Church recently excommunicated Archbishop Vigano. He was an outspoken critic of Pope Francis.

I am outside the Mormon church myself, but I try to be a friend to ex-Mormons as best I can in my Catholic faith. This may or may not be helpful. From my historical research of the origins of the LDS Church I have reached the conclusion that Mormonism itself is an “apostasy” from 19th century Evangelical Protestantism, particularly in its Puritan form. Mormons today think and speak very similarly to Evangelical Protestants for this reason. The truth is that Mormonism and all its history are part of what I call “Americana.” 😊😊😊
