Having flown the 737, I wouldn't want an unstable approach into Midway either. I don't really blame him for being upset, but it is Midway. You kind of got to know there's a lot going on there.
ОтветитьMidway is where you can tell if your pilot was a Naval Aviator.
ОтветитьI'm a retired Brit who's only just discovered 74 Gear. I don't fly, but have had several goes at the controls of a small Cessna (I worked for a short while in my much younger days on light aircraft maintenance). I find these posts by 74 Gear absolutely fascinating. In his presentation he does something very clever that a lot of people competent in all manner of disciplines overlook. He often takes a break in the narrative to explain a point that whilst being understood intuitively by someone familiar with the relevant terminology, could be in a long forgotten and ancient language for us mere mortals ! An excellent presentatation style which makes what could be a mind-numbing viewing experience to highly enjoyable and educational one. Thank-you. ✈.
ОтветитьHe's landing long because ATC changed his angles, not because he needs lunch.
ОтветитьYour description of pipeline flying experience highlights the difference between "five years experience" and "one year experience repeated five times."
ОтветитьI learn so much from your videos, particularly this one. Thank you.
ОтветитьFirst part: She's driving a Miata in the middle of a trucker convoy... and she stayed totally cool. They all did the right thing, 737 pilot did right- but I'm impressed with her calmness in a Cessna at Midway, lol.
ОтветитьIf anybody wonders why the Southwest pilots reacted to the TCAS RA even though they had the C172 in sight, that’s what you have to do. You may have the other plane in sight, but sometimes the plane you’re looking at isn’t actually the one the TCAS system is seeing. If you ignore the TCAS RA because you think you see the other plane and it isn’t a problem, that may be the last bad decision you ever make.
ОтветитьLooks like it would make more since to have a larger buffer area where attlitude is less of a problem
ОтветитьReally interesting videos, i am not in aviation but i enjoy the knowledge. Glad to know im not the only one with a thin top lip, probably something to do with being a ginger 😅 ? 🎉🎉 love your videos so far
ОтветитьIn Canada, new pilots often fly firewatch, looking for signs of forest fires.
ОтветитьYou can learn from his videos more than I anticipated. Chapeau for this brilliant work!
ОтветитьI’m a 35 year flight attendant at a certain airline and we call Midway Airport. “Skidway Scareport”, because of those short runways.
ОтветитьIs it weird that the idea of pipeline flying actually sounds kinda fun to me?
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьIt's funny to hear people, NOT in charge, SPEAK like they ARE in charge... arrogant A-holes..... 👎👎👎👎
ОтветитьFascinating.
Ответитьwhy did you switch from 1 thing to another? that was cofusing.
ОтветитьLove the videos. Landing long might be not just a time saver but because of crappy cooling while taxying. My Cessna hated taxying. (It also hated following c130s training at KRFD. WHEW! Flying into wing vortexies can get exciting!)
ОтветитьI always enjoyed watching and learning from your videos. After watching this one I’m disappointed to realize that you are just one more arrogant airline pilot.
ОтветитьReally enjoy this Captain, he would make a great instructor. Easy to see why he has over a million subscribers.
ОтветитьI remember landing in Columbus, Ohio in on a big airplane and I have to say that was one of hardest landing I ever had. I swear we landed like a brick.
ОтветитьBut “Civilization “ says you should act Civil , but in the Leftists view today, EVERYONE should do what THEY want . They act like spoiled children.
ОтветитьThe pipeline pilot seemed so nice! Hope she gets the flight hours and experience she needs and has a great carreer :)
ОтветитьConflict could have been avoided by issuing a left 360 to the Cessna. Landing aircraft should have ROW over enroute aircraft in this situation. Not uncommon to get a 360 in my environment (military/civilian mix) for better spacing.
ОтветитьSW pilot didn't get a RA just being a prick, upset he had to work a little wake up from his coma. Probably wasn't even pilot flying. Actually the entire group of characters sounded except for the Pipeline driver like a bunch of spoiled children, professionalism left the building.
ОтветитьCessna 172 was my first experience flying. First thing i did was "level out" too quick and floated the pencil. Then corrected too hard and almost made my buddy in the back throw up. It was his first time in a plane.
Ответить“Traffic collision avoidance system system” approximately 33 times. Get better.
ОтветитьJesus of course... female pilot...
ОтветитьWhy didn’t ATAC just tell the Cessna to establish a hold and maintain x-amount of distance from glide path till the 737 goes by?
ОтветитьTotallly with controller on the 360.
ОтветитьWhat do you do if you get down rotor wash?
ОтветитьYou guys looked like Harry and Floyd from Dumb and Dumber riding that thing lol
ОтветитьChicago Midway Reminds me of Las Vegas North Airport, Lots of Runways but they are very short
ОтветитьI bet the Cessna pilot had to use the John
ОтветитьDerek. I cried. No joke. I'm so happy for you.
ОтветитьGA aircraft should not be allowed to land/take-off from the same airports used by commercial aircraft. Keep them separate. Plenty of airports... no need to crowd.
ОтветитьIf I were the ATC, I would just tell the pilot to do as he's told, period. ATC's aren't looking for the pilots approval for their foreplanning.
ОтветитьWhy don’t they use drones for pipeline leaks? Seems more cheap and reliable
ОтветитьBet this nitwit Cessna pilot is the type who does 55 in the passing lane on the highway....maybe he's from Jersey!
ОтветитьInteresting you got a job in West Texas.
Where in Texas did you get the job you mentioned at the beginning? I lived 3 years in West Texas, Lubbock to be precise.
I was flying my 150 SE, way east of Sac squaking 1200 when a B 52 crossed my path up ahead and above me. Could see the pilot. Turned right as hard as I could and avoided a problem.
ОтветитьIsn’t it very hard to sync your speed with another plane?
ОтветитьYour videos are are always great Kelsey! Thank you very much!
Ответитьthat girl needs to learn how to communicate without talking in paragraphs. Plus she seemed very arrogant and lackadaisical. come on man..
Ответить"74 Gear, Tower here. Can we get a blink from you? Over."
ОтветитьI wish I could like this video a thousand times 😂😂
ОтветитьI just watched the video yesterday about an accident in San Diego involving Pacific Southwest Airlines and a Cessna that was very similar to this incident
ОтветитьI'm not a pilot but I detest Midway. It's incredibly old, and its tight confines add danger to every flight, car, and person in and out. I lived in Chicagoland when the plane slid into the street. It was snowing like crazy everywhere, O'Hare was very slow, and I remember being surprised that they hadn't shut down Midway. Can't be anythimg but irritating to have to drop like a rock over those walls for a landing, especially for heavy jets.
My uncle was a pilot who trained at, and flew at a private flying club in Rotterdam. With land at a premium, they all learn to do short, fast drop landings. When he visited us in the US he went to the airport to get approved to fly here. When he got back that evening, he told us how the instructor with him said there was low traffic and to take as much runway as he wanted. He really wasn't used to that and landed the way he would in Holland. He did get certified, but he said the instructor was quiet and slightly green after landing.
