I still remembered this episode definitely because it's scared me a lot as a kid I its were aired in the T.V iraq in 1982 or 83 and now watching it again as an old man

I watched this first time on TV in the 70s when I was only 6 years old. After that, I had daily nightmares of this damn monster & did not sleep a wink for 2 weeks. 70s kids know what I'm talking about.

As a kid this episode scared the hell out of me like many others. I heard it called the scariest hour in TV history and a masterpiece of horror. I also heard the TV channel received many complaints at the time.

I'm like the 20th person to say this, but this scared the hecķ out of me as a kid.

When I was 10 in 1975 this was my favorite show, I saw it when first premiered that September and never missed an episode until it ended in 1977.
This episode aired in late October of 1975, right around the time my friends and I were planning what we were going to be for Halloween. A group of us always watched “Space 1999” at one of our homes, and this episode was extremely shocking. Not only did the monster suck people inside of it, it spit them back out as badly burned corpses. This was not something you saw on a science fiction drama, especially one that had a huge following among kids. I remember my friends mother watched it with us and she was angry that this level of violence and gore was “on a children’s television show”. Of course, watching it now as an adult who hasn’t seen it since the 70’s, I’m kind of amazed that so many kids and teens loved this show, because it’s very adult and not exactly fast paced.

This episode stunted my growth when I saw it back in the mid-70's. I I absolutely freaked out at the monster, and both the hatchet gouging and the man tearing the creatures eye out, the way the thing sucked a person into it's maw and spat out the undigestible, charred remains. I both love and fear this episode to this day.

Great commander... sees guy get drawn under it kills it then bails without checking to see if he is ok..

I've never thought this one of the best episodes [it has a season 2 style monster too], but I understand why some folk rate it highly.

I see the same Discovery One lookalike ship for I think third time now.

This episode scared the shit out of me when I first saw it...I think I was 11 or 12 yrs old, now I'm 57 an still love this show.
