From a tourist's perspective, the problem with Oslo is that you need to look so hard to find the gems. Go to, say, Stockholm or Copenhagen and they're all over the place.

When you're at Vettakollen station (where he gets off for the hike), there is a pizzeria in the station building, ran by italians. They make the best pizza I've ever eaten (and I have eaten alot of pizza throughout my life). Reccommending it so strongly!

As someone who lived in Oslo and moved out, don’t fall for this propaganda piece. The only good spot to visit is syverkiosken but forget about driving anywhere, bring your life savings and pray to god that the terrible public transport system has charged their batteries. Yeah we use EL busses in negative 30 degrees, try to guess what the big story was last winter…

I second the Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum recommendation. It's a very sensory experience (the sound especially), not one that can be done justice with a video. Also, make sure you spend at least 30 minutes inside. It's dimly lit, but once your eyes adjust to the darkness the frescos come alive. In a sense it's as much of a meditation exercise as an art experience.

more of hidden gems in oslo please! i have lived in oslo for the past 4 years and have visited a few of these spots. however, i am not nearly close of discovering oslo and this video evokes the urge to explore the city i live in. thanks for the great tips and history lessons!

I don't understand how tourist can enjoy Norway, when someone can hardly buy anything here, even with a full time job.
I just bought 4 pounds of spuds and two small beers. almost $15 at the cheapest store.
It's gotten so insanely expensive these last years

As a Norwegian I didn’t even know that pølsebod was even a thing until watching these types of videos. I live in Oslo, and wouldn’t normally pay attention, but I was at the sofa company 2 weeks ago, and then looked across the street and saw that specific sausage/hotdog stand, and I was like: “omg there it is” and wondered how many of its customers were tourists🤣🤣🤣 I don’t like sausages so didn’t get any.

I lived in Oslo for 13 years and I've been at these places except for the Munch scream viewpoint and Vettakollen. I've been around Nordmarka and Østmarka on skis on bike and by foot. My 'secret' is not a place but about timing. In the summer I've often driven to Huk after work. at 17pm there are few people there but the water in the fjord is still nice and warm. It's a lovely place to go walking or jogging even if the temperature is low.
