Over the span of 22 years, he amassed more than 5200 hours of flying time, serving across the nation, including challenging regions like North East India and the formidable Siachen Glacier. His expertise extended to being an instructor at the Air Force Academy and the esteemed Flying Instructors’ School. He is a category A flying instructor and has led a training team to Namibia. Furthering his capabilities, he successfully completed the Command and Staff course in Indonesia, standing out as the top foreign student officer among peers representing eight different countries.
His valor shone through a life-saving mission in the Jammu and Kashmir valley, leading to the prestigious gallantry award bestowed upon him by the President of India in January 2012. Sir Welde has led a combat-ready helicopter unit stationed in Delhi and his team played a crucial role during the Uttarakhand and Srinagar floods.
