You can eat as many meals as you like. Somebody just posted his/her final stats with 360 meals eaten and still got the foxhound rank.

PS2 version of MGS3 only had the top-down camera. Imagine trying to get foxhound when you only see 6 feet ahead of you

To get the Raivok disguise, the safest strategy is to simply go to the locker room and put yourself next to the glass at the end and wait for him to be under you or very close and knock the glass a lot so he comes running at you. Once he's there, just use the cigar or handkerchief to get him to sleep. He doesn't take long to walk under you and since he runs at you at the desired place, you don't lose too much time waiting for him and you don't even trigger a caution because you don't deal with any guards. Just him.

The most unexpected thing happened to me when dealing with Volgin at the top of the Shagohod is that Eva ran over me while trying to snipe Volgin with the Mosin Nagant XD Never had that happened before on the PS2. I lost a lot of health because I couldn't focus of what just has happened. I still managed to beat him on the same try. Thankfully you get ALL of your health back in the next section and got my FOXHOUND rank at the end. The extra damage didn't cross the limit fortunately (it was less than half of the requirement).

The Joy fight is such bullshit. The strat here DEFINITELY doesn't work, but the CQC rules change mid fight. At the beginning you can easily counter here CQC. Towards the end it's impossible.

Man this game on Steam is pricy but thank God there's PSX. This guide definitely excites me to go back to the game. I will get back and comment my playthrough time once I am done. Thanks a lot mate.

Just finished getting Foxhound! Your guide rocks. There are two things I wanted to point out. Not sure why, but when I got to the Eva escort part, all of my food was gone. Luckily there were some basic rations on the ground that I could give to her. Also it's worth mentioning that during the fight with the Boss, when you shoot her with the Mosin, make sure you're behind her. If you're standing to the side after the CQC, she will fall after a few shots from the Mosin. I couldn't figure out why it was happening at first but you just need to quickly move behind her after the CQC

Can you use life med or will it count as speical item?

The guards are so random how did you get this perfect run!?

Just finished and Platinumed with Foxhound on 3/1/2025! Thanks for this guide, using a combination of your and Masked Matador's strategies was a humongous help. The Fear strat was definitely my favorite; so absurd lol. I also used your and MM's MGS2 Big Boss guides which were super helpful, although that was way more frustrating and less fun. Foxhound rank is a lot more fun and challenging. Curious to see how things will be for Delta!

Like yourself, I am huge Metal Gear Solid fan and so was beyond excited when I heard about the Master Collection Vol.1's release on PS5. After a lot of work across all the games the other day I managed to get Platinum trophies Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. These were the last ones that I needed to get all of the trophies for every game in the Vol.1 release. Your fantastic guides for the top ranks in MGS1, MGS2 (Damn that was a challenge!) and MGS3 were essential for me achieving those and I am incredibly grateful!
