Supposedly this song was used for timing the pumping out of a sailing ship before the crew left the ship after a voyage was finished. Now-a-days its apparently sung in the British Royal Navy when a ship is decommissioned and the crew is leaving for the last time.

The day after i left my wife of 3 years i bought this game and heard this song brought tears to my eyes the emotion of this song is exactly the feeling i had after finally leaving her after all those years of sadness and regret.

for anyone looking for it in game its in about the middle of nassau

there was something about this game that made me keep coming back. i beat this game on the Xbox360 and when i got an Xboxone i bought this game beat it again and did all the side missions and lastly got all ship upgrades. such a memorable experience.

Play this with the sound of the ocean rushing in the background - it's pretty damn great.

I heard this when my kittens were ill, and then they died. this song reminds me of them and its just such a damn beautiful song to be associated with them.

These songs were sung by a group of musicians and singers from Montreal called LaNef. I heard them sing this song, and the rest of their repertoire of sailor's songs and shanties last night. They spoke of their contract with Ubisoft. They're fantastic and the packed room loved them. Real men singing their hearts out.

I first heard this shanty after Blackbeard was killed and I cried like the biggest bitch in the world

The harmonies in this are so good compared to the other shanties because leave her Johnny was a song traditionally sang when getting off the boat. This is the last thing they’d sing

It would have been quite a tearjerker if they had used it during the aftercredits scene in the ship, a fareway to the Caribbean.
