Hey Cullen - good session.
A point that you might want to rethink though is that Resolve qualifier if checked in project settings is Color space aware.
From the manual. I don't think you need that work around anymore - not sure when they updated it, but you no longer have to pull a seperate key when in a large color space.
Color Space Aware Grading Tools
In DaVinci Resolve version 17, both Resolve Color Management and ACES enables “color space aware” palettes, such as the new HDR palette, to have controls that feel consistent, no matter what color space the original media is from, or what Timeline Color Space you’re using.
Other palettes, such as the Qualifier and Curves palettes, become color space aware when you turn on the “Use Color Space Aware Grading Tools” checkbox in the Color Management panel of the Project Settings (this is turned on by default). When you’re using color space aware grading tools, you should not turn on HDR Mode for the node you’re working on.
— In the case of the Qualifier palette, this enables Qualifiers to create high-quality keys as you would expect, no matter what the color space of the original media is, or what Timeline Color Space you’re using.
— In the case of the Curves palette, this makes the overall range of each curve better fit the overall data range of the current clip, making curves adjustments easier and more specific.
Couldn't be there for the live session but definitly watched the replay :D Awesome trick using a qualifier feeding rec709 instead of log !
ОтветитьNice explanation....but too much of noise...keep it simple and short cullen
ОтветитьThank u sir
ОтветитьCan you pls do a advanced tutorial about RGB Mixer tips and tricks ?
ОтветитьIm learning everyday but today was a big one. Managing expectations is a gem. Ive been trying to totally recreate colors and pushing things way too far. This make so much sense. Thank you.
ОтветитьIts one of the best classes on qualifier. In the next episode we all would like to see the proper use of color warper tool. Thanks Cullen.
ОтветитьHey Cullen
Your content is helpful!
Amazing channel!
Thank you
Here’s one idea of video
I struggle sometimes to match the sharpness between lens:
Wide angle lens are usually softer than long focal.
How do you deal with that.
I tried many ways as mid tone details and the most versatile is to extrude the outline and play with the blur, but still I’m not fully satisfied with.
Any suggestions?
Hello Cullen. Your contents have been immensely helpful and you without a doubt possess exceptional teaching skills. I do wanna know...is there a reason why you no longer provide the link to your Element LUTs in your recent uploads? Or is there an update version coming?
ОтветитьThe American mass psychosis and delusion that long long hours make you a better worker is just some kind of societal propaganda. It's how efficient you work, how well you plan your strategy and execute it that makes for your value. I know people who get less done in 12 hours than I do in 4 hours. That is just the honest truth. I am not pumping myself up. But I concentrate and use my experience to make my workflow great. The person who tries to impress their work overllords by coming in first to the office and leaving last will fool the fool.. but sadly the indroctrination of our culture makes most bosses the fool who is fooled.
ОтветитьGreat information from this Cullen! I really love how you deep dive into the primary tools! Thank you so much!
ОтветитьHello Kelly, and hello CKC Team. Thank you for sharing your knowledge to the world. I have 2 questions.
1) I'm pairing offset and qualifier's luma channel for my split tone, is there any better tool to target luma and pair it with offset?
2) Some raw media have option to output Linear tonal curve, is there any technical advantage of using Linear instead of log curve options?
I'm using latest Resolve with node based color management (DWG)
Thank You Very much.
Course. Thinking about it…….Did you mention how much it costs? Or I missed it? Qualifiers….oh man that’s a topic. Never good at it.
