Farmington High School graduate told to remove Native American beaded graduation cap

Why was it ok for the blonde girl to have flowers around her cap also. They left her alone. This is disgusting FARMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL.

Her mom is a U.S. Marine Veteran. I remember serving with her in okinawa, when she was a Sgt. Rahh

All students were warned before the ceremony.
They disregarded the rules.

This makes me so angry. I am so sick and tired of people and school districts getting away with such wrongful acts. We all have our culture and beliefs.

I know that there was a dress code and it was in the student hand book since 2003, buuuuuut Screw the rule! It was a stupid rule to being with!

Also even if the “dress code” was strict. That doesn’t give the school and staff excuse to destroy and disrespect her cap by destroying the beads and cutting the feather off the cap while tossing it in the lost in found!

We're all still suffering under the "1879>Carlisle Indian School Laws/ Rules." EVERYONE should say something. Last I checked those who are crossing borders are in line too. All this is so stupid. That's been a rule for years. They alway hold America in the highest regards. They're always turning everything into racism and discrimination. But not to long ago I was in Window Rock AZ just right out side of New Mexico and my truck was broken into and thousands of dollars of tools were stolen. I Called 911 and was asked if I was Native American or not. When I stated I wasn't they gave me the run around. To the point not a damn single cop showed up and nothing was ever done. The crime and theft on the rez is outrageous. And it's just getting worse due to all this bias BS. All this is a joke! They treat everyone like shit that isn't Native American out on the rez. We stand by our rules and get bashed for it. 🤦

Was it Lakota? If the Lakota celebrated dried cow dung trinket headdress adornments, would society have to bow down and submit to the Lakota's cultural demands. It is a feather, put it under the cap, don't defile the ceremony with Lakota cultural chauvinism. What next, will pagans and nudists demand to be naked at high school graduations?

1. Perhaps, the student should have let the school know about the cap and had gotten its approval prior the ceremony. 2. How could the school not be willing to learn about it when its admin saw it. Was she a kind of students who pull pranks on the ceremony? Did her racial background not trigger anything about its meaning? (That much attentions were given to its students through K-12 years. ...that's sad. I understand that she might have been a transfer student) I don't know the whole picture behind this incident, but it is sad to learn that a school denied an honor during its graduation ceremony, a moment we recognize honors and achievements of the students.

they are willing to tolerate men who think they are women, even giving them awards, medals and trophies. it even has reached the point where it encouraged in grade school to become anything you wish for...but traditional families or people with traditions are attacked and are seen as a threat.
