I wish you all the energy to do all of this...
ОтветитьGary single-handedly subverting the finbro stereotype!
ОтветитьLet’s see Gary’s short…. The tasteful thickness of it, the subtle off-white colouring… omg it even has subtitles.
ОтветитьWhy do certain pockets of young men Idolize Christian Bale’s and Leo DiCaprio’s characters. Neither were painted in a good light in my opinion.
ОтветитьFrom India, Love you Gary ❤
ОтветитьWhich guy? "This" guy.
ОтветитьSo interesting, yet sad how (young) men aspire to become broken men like the ones portrait in these movies.
ОтветитьHätte ich gewusst, dass der Track you YT ist, hätte er schon 3.000 Aufrufe 😂❤
Ответить"Now why'd you wanna go and put stars in their eyes?" 🤩🎶🎶🕺🕺🕺🕺🎶🎶
Ответить"Sell me this pen." It's the only pen that can draw itself?
Ответить"Drugs, alcohol, women clubs"
Mate, one of these things is not like the others... women aren't inanimate objects.
Now, I'm not saying you specifically think of us that way, but its quite unnerving that you're listing vices, inanimate objects, and then you add women to that list. The kinds of people that live that lifestyle see us as inanimate objects for themselves to own and conquer, not as equally valued human beings to themselves. I feel like this needs to be adressed in society, as poor working class women exist and are trying to make better lives for ourselves and our families, too. To be objectified like that is another massive hurdle we face in our lives to making the world a better place for ourselves and our loved ones. That responsibility falls on me just as much as it falls on you.
I think you're the only economist I genuinely agree with 😊
ОтветитьKind of like why I can't watch Spinal Tap.
ОтветитьLove Gary's passion for humans, but please don't objectify women as a vice for depravity. Only foot Gary has put wrong.
ОтветитьMeanwhile, all women below the glass ceiling: 🫠🤦♀️🤷♀️
ОтветитьThis guy must be great at parties 🙄
ОтветитьLad even looks like Just Jack.
ОтветитьThe tragedy of American Psycho is that the irony of that movie completely flies over the heads of most.
In the book the Patrick Bateman character rattles off what he plans to wear out one day. The apparel, which are real things, if you choose to wear them as listed would have you looking like a clown. That was a deliberate choice by the author.
So fucking cringe omg
ОтветитьMe and my family watxhed u on poers morgan tonight. We have come from a council house and now own 4 houses. However before i felt like we needed more to be classed as successful. After listening to you saying if u come from nothing and wnd up owning a house and feeding yiur kids i now feel like ive done enough and ive actually done ok for my kids future. I never have looked down on anyone as i often watch a guy walk his daughter home from school past my house. He keeps going to the social housing. He is no less of a man than me and i now realise that money never buys back time with your kids ❤
ОтветитьThank you Gary Stevenson for all you do
ОтветитьWhat is this from, I haven't seen this interview
ОтветитьThe sad thing is movies like Wall Street, American Pyscho, Wolf of wall street. Are meant to be a critique of these types but unfortunately some people see it as a blueprint.
ОтветитьIt's an incredibly entertaining film but, sadly, people don't get it's a satire where a typical working class guy gets insanely rich by being a predatory criminal and complete dirt bag that ultimately ruins his life.
That's not a role model 🤦
You’re a good thinker Gary; you’ll do well by people … just keep in mind that quote about power as you gain more power: power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Remember as you grow in power.
Agreed! The feeling of waking up at 6am when you have 8 hours sleep is amazing compared to waking up at like 10/11am, I feel so much more productive and ready for the day when I wake up early.
ОтветитьWolf of wall street made me incredibly angry. I had nightmares for two weeks about that film.
It is incredibly good, but because it is incredibly good, if has a massive affect.of any crippling empath who may watch it.
The level of psychopathy in that industry is unreal.
I really get it. I found that movie Dark as F**k
ОтветитьAgree with Gary on this.
As a mother of two grown up, successful guys, I'm reminded of an old saying:
[In the context of Educational Philosophy]
"If you raise children who don't believe in something;
They will fall for anything".
Sadly, young guys don't get taught Critical theory and they are vulnerable to watching and believing that the movie is advocating that lifestyle.
Ironic or sceptical works are over their heads....
wait. Are people there that find AMERICAN PSYCHO and WOLF OF WALLSTREET inspirational movies? HAHAHHAAAHHA
ОтветитьAn intelligent skilled man knows there's always someone out there who's better.
He's just eliminating competition for his own job.
I see it mate, you ain't hiding that from me.
If you’re intelligent enough you’ll enjoy it but see straight through it
ОтветитьMy brother-in-law worked at the Stick Exchange back in the days before 2008. I would say the partying lifestyle was what destroyed his marriage and killed him in the end.
ОтветитьAmerican Psycho was a satire and until now I was sure that everyone at the age above the minimum required to watch the film would understand it.
Ответитьscorcese is the undisputed king of mass producing characters that you aren't supposed to idolize but millions do anyway
ОтветитьEveryone has an opinion like they have an arsehole. Wolf on WS was hilarious for me. In my late 50’s when I first saw it. Brilliantly acted too. But, can totally appreciate Gary’s viewpoint. I look back on my army days with the similar horror & disdain.
ОтветитьAmerican Psycho was a bitter satire of these parasites. But it is so spot on that they actually identify with it
ОтветитьJust finished your book, the best read this book addict has read in a long time.
ОтветитьWhat an utterly horrendous movie.
ОтветитьThank you. Thank you for making this point. I went to film school at NYU beginning in 2016, and there were several boys who studied there and at the Stern School of Business because they had watched Wolf of Wall Street. They all turned out to become sexual predators and/or addicts because they wanted to recreate scenes from the films. That movie has done more harm to my generation than any other movie I can think of in recent history. It totally glamorized the story and made it a fun buddy comedy rather than showing how dark and evil this man became.
ОтветитьPeople in every industry get sucked into those same things
ОтветитьYour cover photo is sorta funny...😅 I def don't want to be in that line tho. 😅
ОтветитьDull
ОтветитьDrugs, alcohol, women, carbs. All evil, I agree 100%
Ответить"Feed me a stray cat."
That's primarily what I remember. Probably because my wife and I rescue stray cats. 🙀
Glad I admire the shit out of this man. His moral compass is like a finely tuned Swiss watch.
ОтветитьSome love the wolf of wall street because of the lifestyle. I love the wolf of Wallstreet because Scorsese is the goat. We aren't the same
ОтветитьAbsolute rubbish movie. Loud, crass, gaudy. It's not a condemnation of fraud, it's fetishization.
Ответитьhollywood certainly did a good job grooming a generation of greedy traders with the movie wall street. gordon gecko had so many fanbois that wanted to be like him despite being the villian of the show. thank you for making this world a worst place "greed is good" gecko.
Ответитьhe's a deeply moral man, is gary stephenson. truly a one-off.
Ответить
