To create Central Park they had to displace Seneca Village, a Black settlement that was grossly underpaid to vacate their thriving community. I would think this would also be a big factor in the attempts to reduce crime and immorality in the city, perennial racist logic and move.
ОтветитьJesus Christ…. Poor animals 😭
ОтветитьSo informative
ОтветитьThat’s why everything is centered off surf and Bowery and no rides further down
ОтветитьI love how this is just the Most 1890s Men Ever doing the Most 1890s Things Ever
Ответить"My park burned down" "Yeah, charge them 10 cents to see the ruins maybe we'll get some cash for it"
ОтветитьHorse car line?
ОтветитьI would have loved to meet Boyton. He seemed like a genius.
ОтветитьWhy not simply shoot poor Topsy? Elephant guns did exist by that point. That at least would have been quick.
ОтветитьWell done
Ответитьcorny ahh land
ОтветитьI love casually dropping "caged wolves and a ballroom" and then moving on without further elaboration 😂
ОтветитьAnd this is why we stopped building things surrounded by primitive electricity and drunken smokers out of wood
ОтветитьSo much insurance fruad
ОтветитьHoly shit, the 4 primary characters dying of natural causes and then Bonavita dying to a polar bear is incredible
ОтветитьI think he probably had something to do with that fire. Normally I wouldn't assume something like that, but itsa helluva coincidence their state of the art firefighting system wasn't working at the same time some lights randomly blew up.
ОтветитьThe Trip To The Moon attraction actually sounds kinda awesome.
ОтветитьMost of the new York we saw in movies is gone.
But if i ever go there, at least i can go look at the wonder wheel at night. Hopefully it'll have a few lights out.
Did the guy ride topsy into the police station like through the doors or into the side of the building?
ОтветитьFreaky ahh ride holy cow
Ответитьthat whole dreamland fire sequence looked like analogue horror, further solidifying my fear of the man behind this channel
Ответитьdamn, i could never imagine treating an elephant like that, </3
ОтветитьBump
ОтветитьFitting that it somehow all ended with Fred Trump. Ugh.
ОтветитьI hate humans.
ОтветитьOh my gosh??? Topsy?? I need to pause this and finish it later.
Ответить"Bragg bought the brag and kept Boyton off of the brig." OUTSTANDING. No notes. Bright boy that Bragg.
ОтветитьWait. My mom said Coney Island isn’t a real island...
ОтветитьPoor Topsy. Her story and the Black Prince’s story. All those poor animals. My heart absolutely breaks for the lives of these animals that faced such cruelty. Why not just cage them and let them go back to their homeland? To kill the animals is such a horrible a senseless thing to do.
ОтветитьGreat channel, great vid Kevin but Coney Island is actually a peninsula. Island is a misnomer.
ОтветитьYou should check out the American Experience documentary "Coney Island".
Ответитьi’m sorry are we just gonna brush over the giant elephant brothel
ОтветитьI would totally ride that horse race ride right now. That looks incredible
ОтветитьHe leaves out the sinister part about this "Landscape Artist" which was, he buried or flooded with artificial lakes, many old world neighborhoods that would've debunked the history we are told about what the region looked like when Colonialists arrived. (Hint: it was built out from Atlantic to Pacific with partially buried ruins)
ОтветитьI’m going to see the elephant! Is this where the expression originated? I think it means I’m going out in the world/seek my fortune.
ОтветитьWelcome to ad tibe where you will be relentlessly harrased by back to back ads that can auto play for 20 minutes or more. If you value your time or life find something else to spend your time on
ОтветитьGreedy you tube supplying a nonstop ad playlist . Hope you got all night to watch these ads
ОтветитьAtlantic City was called America's Playground. I never heard of that name being referenced with Coney Island.
ОтветитьFucking ad tube all i see is nonstop ads
ОтветитьBlack face is hilarious 😂. More people should enjoy doing it
ОтветитьI love black face 😂
ОтветитьI laughed so many times this episode Your snark is sneaky
Ответитьanyways let's see what else... it was... they called coney island the playground of the world. there was no place like it in the whole world like coney island when I was a youngster. no place in the world like it. it was so fabulous, now it shrunk down to almost nothing, you see. and I still remember in my mind how things used to be, you know... and I feel very bad. I even got lost in coney island when I was very small but they found me on the beach. we used to sleep out here, sleep overnight... now they don't do it anymore... things change... they don't sleep anymore on the beach
ОтветитьThe spirit of Topsy haunts that island.
ОтветитьCool video but you’re wrong right at the start. New York, New York references Manhattan alone. Coney Island is in Brooklyn, New York
