ОтветитьThanks for sharing.
ОтветитьBig respect to you Ben and your honesty, I'm sure you words and advice will help and inspire others to get their health checked if they feel they need to. I saw you at the Guitar show chatting with Carina Powell in the smoking hut, I didn't want to intrude so I left you guys to it. Good luck on your journey of recovery bro and I'll catch up with you at the next Guitar Show in Shirley. Be strong buddy
ОтветитьLove, respect , care and blessings ❤️
Ответитьgood to hear your good bud,,,,thanks for aii your videos
ОтветитьWe love ya Ben for you.
ОтветитьMaybe if you got a chair, that doesn't look like a wheel chair in your shop, it would help.
🤣👍
This is great news Ben! Thank you for being so honest and giving us insight to your life! If you weren’t here, one would have to invent you ❤
ОтветитьHey bro. I'm happy you sorted this out. I have been dealing with this my whole life. I wish I could have directed you to this sooner. I totally get it. Good on ya!
ОтветитьMaybe I will go back to my Doctor and try going back on meds. I too have ADHD, it was very severe as a child, but I always refused to stay on meds. Thanks for sharing, you have given me something to think about. BTW, you look great and very happy to hear you are indeed well.
ОтветитьClicked on this video out of curiosity, have never come across you or your work before, and glad I did...you've left me with food for thought about my own "issues"!
Question: when you talk, towards the end of the video, about "things happening to you, grabbing opportunity that comes your way, doing these things instead of thinking about and acting upon what you actually want to do"...would you class these as traits of ADHD?!? 🤔
This hits so hard. I've reached a point where the misery isn't even overwhelming anymore, i'm just shut down. I've long since have given up thinking about doing anything creative, just literally waking up to go to work to come home and go to bed, buying a £100 second hand Opeth vinyl for the buzz, which I'll file away and not listen too, feeling useless, feeling unwanted, sure i'm a problem at work, sure i'm a problem to my family and friends - so I cut them off, I stopped socialising, stopped reaching out to people. I've long thought it might not be depression, last time I tried to get an appointment to even broach the idea it might be something else, but they let me down and I just accepted that I'd be a bother to some doctor for them to see me.
Anyway, I've only met you in person once (came to you with some gnarly looking acrylic for scratch plate material and plectrums) and you came across as a wonderful soul, so I hope things get better and better for you.
Thanks for sharing Ben. All the best to you.
ОтветитьYour openness about your ADHD diagnosis was a trigger for me to go an do the same and surprise I also discovered I have ADHD at 35 and treatment and medication has been life changing. Like yourself my multitasking ability has become much worse and I still have the thousand tabs of ideas open but I can actually pick and choose what I want to think about.
ОтветитьYou, sir, are a bloody gent.
ОтветитьI couldn't care less about your health or well-being it's your responsibility as is everyones.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing!
ОтветитьI've been taking Creatine Monohydrate to recover from a TBI, there is some research that shows it helps with ADHD.
Ответить❤
ОтветитьThank you for this
ОтветитьLove the T-shirt:)
ОтветитьI wish that you continue to keep well . I enjoy your love of our shared passion.
ОтветитьYou're a great guy Ben.... I'm learning a lot from you.... Well wishes your way! 🙏
ОтветитьNo joke, I haven't watched one of Ben's videos since the 59 Les Paul and the first frame of this video I went, He's looking amazing did he lose weight? I'm sorry
ОтветитьAre we are not all in some form attention deficit in this new world? I wonder if the diagnosis is helping us or providing a crutch? Yes, spend more time on mental health, yes rest and be cognitively mindful but do we need a new label - we're time poor and also needing to give ourselves a break. Be kind with thyself.
ОтветитьI'm so angry! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 61 and got medicated. No weight loss! WTF?
ОтветитьIn the next video, Ben makes a guitar out of a 40ft tape worm.
ОтветитьI love you and the work that you do!
God bless you
On the same journey with ADHD adult diagnosis. Really validating to hear you going through something similar, and very glad you're in a good place!
ОтветитьI have only casually watched your channel and probably only recently in last year or 2.
Ben: your insight to ADHD/ADD has me pondering mine. Thanks for this video.
I am going to think deeper about all of this. I too am a collector and love the dopamine hit. As soon as I reduce a collection, I tend to go back out and find a new trinket(s) to fill that void.
You got me thinking. Thanks again.
Thank you Ben! You're openness and vulnerability is an inspiration to me.
ОтветитьHi Ben, thank you for sharing this, it struck a huge Wagnerian chord with me. I'm 49 and have been struggling with the symptoms of ADHD since I was 17. I thought I was depressed - I had low moods but knew it was only part of the picture. I was mis-diagnosed with Bipolar II and lost my first career (Dentistry) as a result as I was in no state to sit finals or complete clinical work. The mood meds didn't really help (surprise!) but getting out of a hugely stressful situation did. I retrained in IT which is something I can do without having to concentrate on one thing for extended periods. If I don't have the energy for face-to-face interaction I can avoid it. However, like you, it had never occurred to me that I might have ADHD and been misdiagnosed. I'm 49 and only now exploring this. Really glad to see and hear that you're improving and hope you and Crimson keep going from strength to strength. I have a fair few of your luthier tools and they're magical.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing and providing truly GREAT and much needed advice! Within those 20 minutes I have come to realize something, some truth, about me! Thanks much, Ben.
ОтветитьI used to watch your videos religiously about 10 years ago when i was deep in my luthiery hyperfixation. I got my adhd diagnosis around then. I've only managed to build 3 guitars so far and now I funnily enough work as a welder, a lot of us in the workshop are neurodivergent. I do not function well at all without meds and getting diagnosed made such a huge difference for me.
It genuinely makes me so so happy when fellow neurodivergents, especially ones I've looked up to for so long like yourself, find out how they work, get diagnosed if possible and can start to feel better and more comfortable.
First time i took adhd meds i did a big task i had been putting off for months.. just like that.. i just did it.. only took a few hours. before meds that was near impossible for me.
Feeling very emotional about this and adhd and english being my second language makes writing hard.
much love and thank you for sharing.
As someone who is on a seemingly ever growing waiting list for ADHD diagnosis (with the aim to become medicated), it's inspiring to hear how much it has improved your life. I can only hope that my journey can take me as far as it's taken you. Thank you for making this video and shining a light on this. You've been an inspiration to me for a long time, and I wish you all the best for the future!
ОтветитьThe best mental health thing I ever did was going carnivore. Diet matters more than you think and mainstream ideas about saturated fat and other things are totally wrong.
ОтветитьIt's reassuring. I too was worried you might be sick because of your weight loss.
ОтветитьJust, thank you. well done
ОтветитьIt's good to see you on the right track, Den from Blackfox Guitars.
ОтветитьBeen there done that, preaching to the choir.
ОтветитьBen - so glad you were diagnosed and are being treated for the ADHD. I'm 60 and was diagnosed as being "hyperactive" when I was about 7. Little did I know that yes, that IS ADHD. Fortunately, I developed coping mechanisms. When my son seemed to be mirroring my habits, he was tested and yes - he suffers from ADHD...and is being successfully treated. It's amazing how your life changes when you finally get this sorted. Sending good vibes your way...
ОтветитьThe implications of understanding have changed my life. My buying habbits in particular have subsided. Not bought any mad overwhelming projects since the 6wd gun tractor 😂
ОтветитьThanks for sharing this Ben. Not knowing what you have or how one works is challenging. I was nice to hear some of my thoughts reflected in your video and to see that you're on a good path.
ОтветитьYou are a legend and have inspired me to put myself forward for testing and follow through with it - those closest to me have always said I should but ive lways laughed and put their advice aside
ОтветитьCan one get double tape worm?
ОтветитьDitto! 😞
ОтветитьYou have the new Covid. More vaccin.
ОтветитьMate… starting watching this channel because of whatever guitar you were over-building at the time some years ago, and have loved every damn one you have built - the Complication being my favourite, and like others, I suspect, I won’t watch unless you are actually on the tools and explaining what you’re doing and why.
With all due respect to your staff, and to the tool shop and the museum, I’m only interested in what you, personally, are building either at Crimson, or at home. In fact, I stopped watching Crimson completely…
You cannot be the bloke you were all those years ago because of personal growth, and a diagnosis that helps you with that growth can only be good - get stuck in, man!
Kia kaha, kia kaha!!
Carnivore diet, dude! 🥩❤
ОтветитьI can literally 100% relate!
Life has been kicking my arse the past couple of years, mental and physical.
Been running for way too long, the chaos got to me and I had to take a few steps back.
Burning out on the things I love and being easily overwhelmed by everything was a big sign that I could've read clearly if I took a couple of steps back earlier 😅.
I'm getting better, slowly but it's progress in the right direction.
Living by the rules of the Window of Tolerance has helped me.
(Oh yeah, I've been diagnosed with ADD)
(Ps, now you know why you enjoyed your coffee, kept you focused on one thing 😉).
