Moscow. Donskoy Monastery. Small Cathedral, icons of the Don Mother of God

The Moscow Donskoy Monastery was founded in 1593, in honor of the Don Icon of the Mother of God as a sign of gratitude for the deliverance of the city from the troops of the Crimean Khan Kazy-Giray. The founder of the monastery was the third son of Ivan the Terrible, Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich. Today, on the territory of the Donskoy Monastery there is a Synodal department for interaction with the Cossacks, a restoration workshop, a scientific and educational center for facial sewing, a youth club "Donskoy", a Sunday school for children, Theological courses and advanced training courses for teachers of the Basics of Orthodox Culture.
