A promotional spot for "Forbidden Planet", featuring Walter Pidgeon in character, and "Robbie" (Marvin Miller provided his voice), originally featured on "MGM PARADE" in March 1956, after Pidgeon succeeded George Murphy as host ["MGM PARADE" was their half-hour answer to "DISNEYLAND", featuring old theatrical shorts, cartoons, musical and comedy sequences from "classic" MGM movies, and "previews" of the studio's upcoming films; it lasted one season].

"Robbie" did appear on "LOST IN SPACE" during its first season with the "Robot" {"War of the Robots"}....and previously appeared twice during the final season of "TWILIGHT ZONE" {"Uncle Simon", "The Brain Center At Whipple's"}.

Robby .vs Lost in Space B9. Who would win and why?

It baffles me that even today scifi prop designers still insist on putting the “brain” of a robot in its head. The human brain is only where it is because it is close to the primary senses (and vice versa). If you were building a robot its brain should be in its chest where it can be protected.

Robbie was in a Columbo episode ...

Robbie was on display at San Francisco's Metreon movie center around 2004 or so, and I got to see him in person. He was behind glass, of course. It was late at night, and there were no crowds. He was unlit and not running but he was everything I ever expected, and it was quite a surprise to see him as I did not know he was there. A really nice thing to happen.

I really like the way they present Robbie as a real robot.
