A promotional spot for "Forbidden Planet", featuring Walter Pidgeon in character, and "Robbie" (Marvin Miller provided his voice), originally featured on "MGM PARADE" in March 1956, after Pidgeon succeeded George Murphy as host ["MGM PARADE" was their half-hour answer to "DISNEYLAND", featuring old theatrical shorts, cartoons, musical and comedy sequences from "classic" MGM movies, and "previews" of the studio's upcoming films; it lasted one season].
ОтветитьEmergency cancellation, Archimedes!! ;-)
ОтветитьLooks like the robot from Lost In Space.
ОтветитьI always wanted a REAL Robbie when I was a kid :~(
Ответить"Robbie" did appear on "LOST IN SPACE" during its first season with the "Robot" {"War of the Robots"}....and previously appeared twice during the final season of "TWILIGHT ZONE" {"Uncle Simon", "The Brain Center At Whipple's"}.
Ответитьlol... I just noticed that there are a bunch of gyroscopes in his head.
ОтветитьThanks for posting this. Forbidden planet is one of my favourite films. Never seen this before. I've just bought my son a toy robbie, so he loved this!
ОтветитьThat's spelled "Morbius." You've got an extra "o" in there...
ОтветитьThat robot is B9. :)
ОтветитьI always imagine Robby the Robot as a Soviet death machine marching through and killing humans with heat vision from its eyes. Spooky
Ответитьrobbie was always m favroite robot
ОтветитьIn gonna guess that this is where the idea of protectrons from fallot came from.
ОтветитьOf course. Just like the quest "Those!" in Fallout 3 was a direct homage to the classic movie "Them."
Ответитьgood to see that im not the only one who got that reference.
ОтветитьI remember Robbie the robot as a kid
ОтветитьAwesome
ОтветитьRobby is so adorable what a cute cuddly robot :3 <3
Ответитьsounds like Leslie Nielson as Robby
ОтветитьThat doesn't sound like the original voice of Robby... I've never seen this before
ОтветитьAmazing movie- even to this day.
Ответить:) cool :)
ОтветитьAnd yet we don't even have flying cars in the 2020s.
ОтветитьMarvin Miller wasn’t available for the voice?
ОтветитьMy mom said her furbees were the first robots. My real name use Robbie. I told her I have been a ROBOT SINCE 1956 then sent her this video lol. I told her that Furbees were little demons. We all know they are gremlins. Vroom vroom
ОтветитьForbidden planet forbidden planet indeed ha ha ha ha ha 🤖
ОтветитьRobby .vs Lost in Space B9. Who would win and why?
ОтветитьIt baffles me that even today scifi prop designers still insist on putting the “brain” of a robot in its head. The human brain is only where it is because it is close to the primary senses (and vice versa). If you were building a robot its brain should be in its chest where it can be protected.
ОтветитьGotta love this🔥
ОтветитьRobbie was in a Columbo episode ...
ОтветитьRobbie was on display at San Francisco's Metreon movie center around 2004 or so, and I got to see him in person. He was behind glass, of course. It was late at night, and there were no crowds. He was unlit and not running but he was everything I ever expected, and it was quite a surprise to see him as I did not know he was there. A really nice thing to happen.
ОтветитьI really like the way they present Robbie as a real robot.
ОтветитьMORBIUS?????
ОтветитьI think Robbie has been at the Kansas city Burbon again. Sounds pissed.
Ответитьcreepy
