This was a radio script that was based on real events; it was used to make episodes for the radio series "Your FBI" and "Texas Rangers." In both of these earlier versions, Artie was shot and killed, living long enough to make a dying confession to the murder.

Wasn’t there the same plot on another tv show? Except they found the bad guy at a surveying camp in the woods.
