Not severe ice...light rime!!

Rime wouldnt be classed as severe in any event as rime appears at the colder temperatures between -15 to -20c. Severe would be LSD where the 0 degree isotherm is intersected twice

FZRA FZFG FZDZ etc as listed on metars etc where supercooled liquid may runback and form aft of the protected surfaces or ice on parts where ice normally doesnt acrete would be classed as severe and would be clear/glaze ice normally (outside of convection)

Definitely not severe. Light rime. It gets severe when you're in SLW for an extended period of time.

This is hardly moderate rime. I always love seeing the boots in action, thanks for posting nonetheless.

Light icing, probably actually a bit early on using the boots. If you use the boots early you can leave ice behind, which they did in this case, and form a barrier of ice over the boots that could prevent them from breaking the ice off.

Oh, c'mon -- there is a definition for 'severe' icing ... let's use the proper definitions as applicable to the actual situation, please!! Grossly overstating the case with a misleading caption just to get views will only get you a thumbs-down from me.

Hello. My name is Fernando. I have an aviation channel in Brazil called Aero. I will post a video that explains the de-icing boots system and I would like to take a footage of the system working. I found your video and I would like to use it. It would be in my video for about 5 seconds. Do you authorize me to use it and I put your credits in the description on my video? Thank you.

Non icing conditions (no visible moisture, NO ICE!!)

Icing is light rime.

If it was severe it would be well aft of the boot and likely have a whole pile of hooks and horns sticking out.

1) Clear air so no icing conditions at all.

2) Ice is not even halfway down the boot. This was “light”

3) Rime ice. Severe ice is clear.

boots work great if used properly. you let the ice build up as much as possible. then pop the boot. sever icing different story. Fly jets not prop.
