Not severe ice...light rime!!
ОтветитьRime wouldnt be classed as severe in any event as rime appears at the colder temperatures between -15 to -20c. Severe would be LSD where the 0 degree isotherm is intersected twice
ОтветитьFZRA FZFG FZDZ etc as listed on metars etc where supercooled liquid may runback and form aft of the protected surfaces or ice on parts where ice normally doesnt acrete would be classed as severe and would be clear/glaze ice normally (outside of convection)
ОтветитьDefinitely not severe. Light rime. It gets severe when you're in SLW for an extended period of time.
ОтветитьThis is hardly moderate rime. I always love seeing the boots in action, thanks for posting nonetheless.
ОтветитьLight icing, probably actually a bit early on using the boots. If you use the boots early you can leave ice behind, which they did in this case, and form a barrier of ice over the boots that could prevent them from breaking the ice off.
Ответитьthis is what they do if WD40 does not help
ОтветитьOh, c'mon -- there is a definition for 'severe' icing ... let's use the proper definitions as applicable to the actual situation, please!! Grossly overstating the case with a misleading caption just to get views will only get you a thumbs-down from me.
ОтветитьHello. My name is Fernando. I have an aviation channel in Brazil called Aero. I will post a video that explains the de-icing boots system and I would like to take a footage of the system working. I found your video and I would like to use it. It would be in my video for about 5 seconds. Do you authorize me to use it and I put your credits in the description on my video? Thank you.
ОтветитьNon icing conditions (no visible moisture, NO ICE!!)
Icing is light rime.
If it was severe it would be well aft of the boot and likely have a whole pile of hooks and horns sticking out.
what is name this plane ?
Ответитьthank you for this magic boots, I can have a chance to use my eyes to see how it works
ОтветитьWhat this plane?
ОтветитьLooking forward to the new coatings and nano patterns that will prevent icing.
Ответить"The leading edge is clean" Got to be the most retarded thing I've read for a long time
ОтветитьClickbait and I took it, the bait that is. I don't even fly known ice airplane and even I know that is in no way severe
ОтветитьIs ice bridging still a concern at all?
ОтветитьModerate rime at the very most.
ОтветитьBoots Deicing in Severe Icing Conditions 2 - Thank for sharing my new friend!
Ответитьhi other PPTC candidates, hows meteorology lesson 6?
ОтветитьSevere? You are clueless if you call this even moderate. This is light ice.
ОтветитьNot really clean
ОтветитьThe leading edge was not clean, it only removed some of the ice the ice remained over and under the wing just aft of the leading edge.
ОтветитьHalifax
Ответитьalmost clean
ОтветитьThe title says severe icing conditions…. What’s misleading about that
ОтветитьAnyone else on Meteorology Lesson 6?
ОтветитьSo they dont have leading edge embedded heaters ?
Ответитьthat is not good
Ответить1) Clear air so no icing conditions at all.
2) Ice is not even halfway down the boot. This was “light”
3) Rime ice. Severe ice is clear.
Brazil flight 08-09-2024
ОтветитьThere's another system which uses the heat from the engines. What is it called?
ОтветитьBrasil?
Ответить'
why not the airplane company can make coil heater on the front wing that help ice melt away
That does not seem much effective.
ОтветитьStill shows you that this is the poor man’s substitute for a hot wing…
ОтветитьGreat video! May I featured this on a video about de-icing systems? I'm the producer and editor of an aviation channel - Revista Asas Thanks in advance and have a nice week!
ОтветитьWax the boots for better results.
ОтветитьThere's someone on the wing - some - - thing.
ОтветитьSo everyone's life is dependent of a rubber inner tube inflating?
ОтветитьThese boots are for de-icing, and that is what they do, one of these days these boots will be de-icing over you. Hey, it worked!
ОтветитьA vida dependendo de um "saco de borracha inflável"???? Isso ai é solução??? É de assustar.
ОтветитьShame the boots didnt really work that well. Ice still on tne leading edge.
Ответитьdeicing boot - "get off my plane"
Ответитьboots work great if used properly. you let the ice build up as much as possible. then pop the boot. sever icing different story. Fly jets not prop.
ОтветитьVoepass 2283
ОтветитьForgot “Boots” was a technical term here, and just thought you named the aircraft Boots 😂❤
Neat stuff! Pretty cool to see the mechanism in action
The leading edge is not clean, is it?
ОтветитьThose boots inflate far more quickly than I imagined they would.
