Several times in the mid-game I could guess the moves they would make, but then at the end...? I couldn't see why Hikaru just conceded... I still can't. Wtf.

for those who are wondering why he resign.

Hikaru can only stay his rook at c line to track the pawn of. Magnus will keep move his king until hes at c8 so he can defend his pawn once he advance it. From there Hikaru has no option but to eat it once pawn advance to b8.

Now let say theres still time and hikaru dont want to surrender. All of his pawn will be eaten by magnus rook then his pawn will adv or to corner the king.
